This isn't what people are upset about, it's just the manifestation. Folks are upset that NU doesn't know how or cannot play the portal game. Minchey is a symptom of a more disheartening, underlying problem. The program doesn't appear to be a serious player.
Is that actually the case with Minchey? I don't think so. I think NU got played; and as many others on the board are saying, would it make sense at NU to pay a backup $2 or $3 million to come in and "compete" for the starting job? If it would truly be a competition, then you would have to up LaQueef's money to be equal to the guy you're bringing in for competition.
Now NU is in the position where they have to bring in a guy as the starter and pay him starter money. Additionally, you have to have a real conversation with LaQueef about his current ability to play an entire season of B1G football, which he'll never make it through based on physical structure.
The Minchey plan was a less expensive gamble than the new plan that they are forced into. A lot of fans will lose their minds when NU pays $3M for Chiles or Lagway, but that's what will happen.
"expected to be the one of the highest paid OTs in the nation" - lots to dissect here
1. Fair to assume that Nebraska wanted this out there after the Minchey debacle. If so, sure
2. We're making a guy who projects as a guard in the NFL one of the highest paid OTs in the nation?

I don't really think Matt has any special insight into his much Tree is getting paidEither we care about efficiently allocating resources or not. We can’t bitch about the Minchey situation and then immediately go back to money ball mode.

How thick is he?
Doesn’t look to thick up top
More surprised, i don't necessarily disagree with itEither we care about efficiently allocating resources or not. We can’t bitch about the Minchey situation and then immediately go back to money ball mode.
No brother, I don’t think YOU have any ideaI don't really think Matt has any special insight into his much Tree is getting paid
No offense, but the most surprising thing by far is that you haven’t seen anyone here discuss it. World wars have been started for lesser conflicting opinions about the veracity of this.So this is something I've been thinking a lot about, and I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone here discuss it.
In multiple interviews, Dana has said they didn't change the offense. So we aren't actually running Dana's offense, we're running Satterfield's with Dana calling the plays. I think this is the source of a lot of our offensive woes.
I lived in Stillwater when Dana was OC there and went to a lot of games. That offense was dynamic. It put up points and yards. I wish we'd ditch whatever hybrid Frankenstein Satterfield/Holgs offense they're running and just let Dana do his thing.

People get really butthurt when it gets pointed out that we're still running and will continue to run the Satterfense. So this is something I've been thinking a lot about, and I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone here discuss it.
