So after the first days of the transfer portal being officially open, I think everyone can agree that the range of emotions for Husker fans is somewhere between "we're screwed, shut down the program" to "everyone take a guddamn chill pill"?
this is completely believable to me. He is not as talented as the other SDSU, Trey White. His first visit was University of Houston. On3 ranks him as the #54 Edge in the portal.
I think the bowl game broke me. I read through this thread and my only reaction is, “Why the fuck do you crazy fucks care so much about a shitty football team?”
It took 25 years but it finally got me.
Cignetti doesn’t seem patient so I’m going to assume he knows what he is doing. If next year goes south, hopefully our dweebs will pull the trigger on whoever is Kirby smart on that staff

Yeah, a 13th ranked class last year, in the 20's the year before and 40's the year before that.
Obviously dependent on needs but I wouldn't consider past performance an indicator for a shitty portal haul from this coaching staff.
2025: Played in 12 of 13games, starting one ... started vs. UC Davis, notching one tackle (a half of a tackle for loss) ... had a tackle and a fumble recovery in the win at Washington State ... made two tackle vs. Ohio State ... two tackles, including a quarterback sack, in the win over Rutgers ... three tackles at Michigan ... had one stop in the win over No. 23 Illinois ... two tackles at Wisconsin ... made one stop in the win over Purdue ... recorded a 15-yard sack in the win at UCLA ... recorded five tackles vs. Oregon.
Here's my biggest hot take of the portal...I don't think we necessarily need to take a RB out of the portal. I think if we do, we do not need to take a guy who is expected to start. This is the opposite of my take on QB...

My issue with an NFL background guy being in charge of roster management is that much of the evaluation is based on positional value. Meaning they are only willing to pay a certain range for prospects. College is not bound by any type of fiduciary responsibility because this isn't a business for profit. Colleges who will do well will overpay for every player they want. These kids who have multiple visits lined up but end up canceling are provided offers and asked for commitments prior to leaving. It's important to get these kids here first and make aggressive offers. If NU has the money it is suspected we have and spoken about then Nebraska HAS to overpay the first year to get success. This is what TT did and now they are a top portal destination. You do not have any leverage for cost if you are bad; you do if you've had success. Those are the facts!

It doesn’t appear from what we can see that Nebraska has any real solid plan or recruits are interested in the money until someone better comes along and they can use Nebraskas offer as leverage
