I’ll call it a miracle when we win our first Tourney game.

If you’d have told me in ’91 that I’d still be wondering when that would happen over thirty years later, I’d have thought you were drinking your bath water.
Amen brother. Being the only P4 team to never win a NCAA tourney game is almost a statistical anomoly. What are we in the tournament? 0-8?

I think I honestly have a mental block once we hit 0-6 against Utah in ’98?

Four straight one and done’s from ’91-’94 and all of that during the stretch where we couldn’t beat anybody in a bowl until that win against Miami.

I may need a bourbon here in a minute.

Not that it matters now, and my history is very "revisionist," but the seeding in the 90s into mid 2000s of the NCAA tourney was often completely out of whack. There were no metrics related to strength of schedule or efficiencies. The Huskers got some really bad draws:

In 1991, Xavier, with 2 NBA players including eventual lottery pick Brian Grant, were something like 20-4 that season with their whole health roster. They should've been closer to the 11 or 12 line on the seeding.

In 1992, the Huskers draw UConn, with 5 fucking NBA starters including Donyell Marshall and Scotty Burrell. That team spent 9 weeks ranked inside the top 10. But endured some injuries in early February to drop 5 out of 7 games. Nebraska was an 8 seed. UConn was the 9. The Huskers had ZERO business being seeded ahead of that UConn team. With today's metrics, that UConn team would've been closer to a 6.

The 93 team just flat out choked that season in their loss to New Mexico State.

Now.... 1994 is where the seeding was the worst. The Huskers, a 6 Seed, drew Penn, out of the Ivy League. Penn was 26-2 coming into that game. Their only losses were by 2 points at Ohio State, in fucking November, and by 8 points at Temple, a top 10 team that season for John Chaeney. In today's day and age, an Ivy League team with that type of resume would've been an 8 or 9 seed at the worst.

I we beat MSU on Jan 2nd I'm going to take a med, we beat OSU, and Indy on the road, and I'll be taking meds every hour on the hour ......... But I can dig it!

This Massey schedule didn't "recalculate" after the Illinois win.

It was exactly the same on Saturday morning. For instance, Torvik has Nebraska favored vs. Sparty, at Northwestern, Illinois, and Purdue.

Not sure the Massey computer is up to date at the moment.

Look at this retard’s ranking. Has Illinois above us

18. Nebraska

Previously ranked: No. 22

Nebraska won a huge Big Ten road game vs Illinois, thanks to star forward Pryce Sandford’s 32 points and guard Jamarques Lawrence’s game-winning 3-pointer. The winning streak for the Huskers is now 15 games going back to the 2025 College Basketball Crown championship.

17. Illinois

Previously ranked: No. 13

Illinois lost at home to Nebraska on a last-second 3. Illini freshman Keaton Wagler (19 points, 10 assists) is the real deal, but Illinois was largely overpowered. The Illini are hard to guard, but their defense isn’t good enough right now.

16. Auburn

Previously ranked: No. 17

Auburn beat Chattanooga in their lone game of the week. Tigers forward Keyshawn Halland guard Tahaad Pettiford combined to score 44 points. Next up is a date with Purdueon Saturday.

15. Kansas

Previously ranked: No. 16

Kansas took down NC State in overtime on the road. Freshman star Darryn Petersonstarted but didn’t finish the game, exiting with a hamstring injury. Melvin Council Jr. took over the scoring role and dropped 36, including 9 3s!
