I’m way behind on the thread so maybe this has been discussed, but don’t you think if Snow was willing to be a full time DC Rhule would have hired him a long time ago? Like instead of hiring Butler?

I got the feeling his level of involvement this year was more than he was really wanting to do, so I agree.

I’m also looking at the long game here. Snow being the permanent DC doesn’t check a longevity box, a high energy recruiter box or really any of the boxes except experience. I thought his role this season was a great idea, but if even with that we couldn’t scheme a way out of not having a legit block eater in the middle and being able to stop the run, why’d we fire Butler?

It’s just odd all the way around.

Sherman mentioned Tennessee's D Coordinator on the locked on podcast. Thoughts? I honestly very rarely watch TN and don't pay attention to their D.

Watch Tennessee nearly as much as Nebraska... He fucking sucks lol. Had a good defense last year built off a ton of NFL pass rushers. In my opinion the DL coach is responsible for the little success he has ever had. Would be hilarious a year after poaching Eckler too.

Doesn’t a coach get credit for developing the talent ?
McCoy was a transfer in and immediately the best corner in the nation don’t know how much he developed. Pearce I could give him more credit. I think the biggest thing going in his favor is that Huepel offense is very hard of defensive coaches so him in a more neutral envirment I could see him being successful. 75 percent of the Vols fanbase wants him gone to be honest. Similar sentiment to what was around JoBu before the firing.

Led the SEC this year in defensive plays per game (71.3). 19th nationally. Nebraska was at 58.3 (130th nationally)

12 extra plays across an entire season is like missing multiple 2 bye weeks from a wear and tear perspective

Tied Vandy and Minnesota on ypp. 55th nationally. Top half

Tim Banks has been a DC or co-DC for the last 18 years, 14 of those in either the B1G (Illinois and Penn St w/ Franklin) or the SEC (TN).

No one has a P4 defense with gaudy stats without talent, you can't hold that against him. In fact, it's a plus.
