No desire to absolve Dana. However he has an excuse in that his QB changes 1/2 of his plays at the line of scrimmage and most of those plays end up FUBAR.I realize it’s more important to absolve Dana rather than confront the idea that maybe he was a mistake, but if he is allowing himself to be hamstrung, at some point that is on him.
He’s a grown man and doesn’t need to accept a small fortune in payment to do his job in a way that he doesn’t believe in. He can find other places that will “let Dana be Dana.”
If he’s willing to do a shitty job because he likes the money and doesn’t want to rock the boat, then GTFO.
The one game I know that the QB didn't fuck up Dana's plays was @ UCLA and that was coincidentally the best called offensive game we had all season.
I do think Dana has lost a bit off his fastball. But he's a run-first OC. He runs great perimeter blocking schemes on runs and screens. I just need to see what he has for passing plays without the QB changing all his playcalls.
This is not a pro or anti Dana post....just that I don't have 10 games I can look at of his bc Dylan wrecked those games with his audibles. If he's gone now I'd be fine with it. If he's back that's fine too.
