If you are going to be a developmental school you need to have the guys to develop (2026 class currently 0 DL committed, a IOL, IOL/OT, and OT committed) if you don't you're going to have to find the money (which it sounds like they finally do 🙏) to fill in the gaps from the portal. Or C. not have very good lines.

People that never complain and act like things are perfectly fine all the time are also annoying. I can't think of anyone on the board that I'd put under that description. Maybe there's some that are that way that I'm just not thinking of right now.

With the portal money approach though, you're competing for a handful of truly elite linemen every year and most likely going to end up with solid to ok guys to patch holes.

Maybe there's a window for the 3 years of eligibility type transfers where you can get smaller conferences guys or dudes who are stuck behind NFL talent where you could get to an elite line, but my suspicion is what's old is new again and that is taking lots of HSers, the more elite the better, and developing them.

And as you noted, it's unwise to skip entire classes
