It's weird honestly. Kid works hard and is a great teammate. Yeah he has flaws but he's the best we've got.

I think it's just because he was a top dude in the country and he isn't the best QB to ever play

Yeah, the portal is obviously huge now but the best teams will do both develop and plug.

I'm out on Donnie, he's had the most time on this staff to figure out the OL and hasn't. We have maybe two serviceable guys going into next year.

Front 7 coaches can go, we haven't recruited well and have hardly seen improvement. Why did we hire an assistant to an assistant to coach DL?

One thing that they’ve needed to do is do a drastic cut to the 90 players who are So and below. That is way to unbalanced and no way that many are going to pan out. I mean cutting 30 would rebalance but would be huge. There has to be 15-20 who aren’t going to be good enough and needed to be replaced by transfers in this class. That is one of my hopes as the roster still isn’t very good in year 3. Based on coaching and development so far we need way better players to make up for deficiencies elsewhere.

TJ‘s completion percentage was a solid 10 points below. DR’s season low. Pretty tough to spin that stat. But some have so much inexplicable dislike for DR, they’ll fail to admit what is truly clear.

He looked worse against a shittier opponent (Minnesota) - this was basically the same game except we actually scored a TD in this one.

DR or TJ doesn’t matter though, we have a charlatan as a HC and now we have to wait 1-3 years before getting a new one.

It’s because he hasn’t delivered as many wins as they feel like they deserve. They are entitled to nothing short of perfect QB play from our team because of the amount of money they don’t pay towards the program.

In their minds the best path forward is to create an unbearable pressure cooker for our coaches and players, start booing the team at home, fire everyone on staff, replace everyone on the team, and cheer when our own players get injured because they don’t like the way they’re playing. All because we have *checks notes* the best record since 2016.

These aren’t serious people. You wouldn’t ever tolerate them in real life and you certainly wouldn’t give them any responsibility to oversee the development of anyone else. They’re just angry at something and when Husker football can’t be their perfect escape from their real life misery, they attack it with all of their pent up rage.

We’re improving, but very slowly. We need to improve more quickly if Rhule wants to accomplish his goals here.

I’m optimistic that he’s learning some lessons and adapting as he goes, but we’ll see.

Dylan’s completions stat is so overplayed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good thing to have, but when you don’t throw the ball over 10 yards and are afraid to throw into tight coverage other than a fade, it not as impressive as it sounds. Now, is that all him or is it also the play calling?

It’s probably a little bit of both, but you can’t deny that he’s a much more accurate short and intermediate passer than Lateef. TJ seems to throw a better deep ball from the small sample we’ve seen.

However, our offense needs those short and intermediate passes to be automatic in order to sustain drives. Lateef’s running ability could be the equalizer if he can figure out how to maximize that.

Sometimes Dylan‘s to unafraid about throwing into tight coverage, and as far as the lack of long passing plays, that’s pretty much on the OC. Dylan can throw the deep ball, but quite honestly playing the field position game, considering our crappy O line play, makes the most sense (get the ball out fast).

As far as completion percentage, being overrated…You don’t win many games complete 50% of your passes. In my opinion, completion percentage is one of the most important stats on the board. Which is probably why it’s one of the four stats the NFL uses when calculating quarterback rating.

Posts like these are weird. Dylan throws accurately over 10 yards all the freaking time.

Over 20-25? Not as much, sure.

But 10-20 which is a very effective area he does very well.

Everyone knows his deep ball isn't good, but 10 yards? Come on.

It's like some have to take his poor deep balls and make it sound like he can't throw the ball 10 yards.

Not to mention, when's the last time the line gave him enough time to throw deep?

Agree with everything you say, except I think Dylan throws a really nice deep ball providing he actually has time…which he rarely does.

In year 4, given what little improvement and development Rhule has seen in this program thus far, if he wants to compete for true success, then something along this needs to happen:

1. Allow a gracious exit for Unc and hire the best OL coach available, then allow the money to flow to find 4-5 new starters while also building new depth.

2. Gut the roster of all longtime holdovers. Rhule needs to drop the life skills coach approach and rebuild the roster leaving no room for guys that just truly aren’t that good (i.e., most of this roster).

3. Seriously reevaluate and drastically improve how you (as a coaching staff) evaluate talent. There’s significant problems in this category as NU’s talent level is not explosive, not deep, and void of any sense of identity.

4. Forge new, physical identities on O and D which requires you to dump your existing systems (i.e., Rhule/Satterfield’s O that we are still running and the ridiculous 3-3-5 D that has proven to suck). Build your new identity to succeed in the B1G. This doesn’t require new coordinators.

5. Rhule needs a great deal of self examination in regard to his continual game management issues. Either his natural inclinations or the people in his ear are wrong 9.9 times out of 10 and this needs to change.

Need 2 x WR to replace Key and Hunter

Cunnanen doesn't have a big leg and isn't a great PK

I feel like the talent eval has been good for skill position, but man the line on either side is just so bad
