I love this was announced this week. Much like how Rhule to PSU talks was a potential distraction for us that week, I wonder if this news could provide interference right before we come to play. Would some PSU staff be getting phone calls this week about heading to Blacksburg after the season as well? Is there as much motivation to try and get to six wins and get bowl eligible when you could have exited and be helping your boss in his new digs at the beginning of December vs staying behind to coach in a worthless bowl game?

I’m not sure they could have written the way this played out any better.
A guy who going into the year wouldn’t have given Tech the time of day falls into their laps because the decision makers at Penn State are elite level impatient.
They’d likely be looking at hiring a fired Shane Beamer if Franklin hadn’t gotten gassed.

Perfect spot for Franklin too. He can recruit the same regions he did at Penn State and win 8 games a year and VT will be happy and he won’t have the pressure he did at Pedo

Exactly. Easier conference to win in to boot.
He’ll likely better that 8 with an occasional 9, 10 or even 11 and he’ll get a building named after him when he retires.
