All he had to do was keep Lacy committed and not a single Husker fan would be able to talk bad about him.

I would definitely have a different opinion had Lacy ended up a Husker

On the contrary, hes actually got a reputation as a great recruiter. In fact, that was one of the biggest things said about him when he was brought in.
I agree RB has been a struggle up until this year, but I'm starting to think thay correlates more with poor OC and poor OL play. As for recruiting, the critics like to hang their hat on Ives, but he was a project grab in a transition class. Since then, hes brought in some well regarded talent. And as has been pointed out, he does a lot of work on many other recruits, too, not just RBs.
EJ has been a whipping boy unnecessarily for a few seasons and Emmetts rise from afterthought to all conference back under him should be enough to put that to bed, but some just can't seem to let go.

He's brought in Ives, Nelson, Booth, and Parker, right? Parker was the most heralded prospect as a low 4 star (Booth may have been a 4* at one point too). Not great, not horrible, just meh.

I'm not a big Barthel guy either but they certainly didn't help him out by not wanting to pay Dowdell or CharMar. They probably thought they were going to get something from Parker too before his mystery injury.

Dowdell as well. If its stars you want, I've been told Nelson would likely have been rated higher but for off field stuff (don't remember if it was academics or otherwise). Booth I believe was a 4 star at one point, dont remember if he finished there.
I know this makes it an if/but situation, but with that info thats all but one of his recruits being a 4 star. Thats not bad.

EJ is going to be Nebraska's first 1k rusher in like a decade behind a line that Jim and I would average 3 TFLs a game against.

Which is incredible considering he was a flyer offer in the first place and was basically thought of as akin to Ives most of his time here.
