The reality is he’s open to it but it is clearly a tough decision for some of the reasons he mentioned. Would have been nice to get a full throated wolf of Wall Street moment but it’s a tough situation. Thats my read on it.
He also can’t publicly deny it if he wants to leverage this into more money, support, etc.

It’s uncomfortable all around

bro's negotiating an extension this year.. he wants to get paid. his coaches to get paid and more money to pay his players.

he has to play it as middle as he can. i'm sure he wants the job if they offer more money, bigger assistants pools and more NIL

who wouldn't?

I mean he wouldn't be the first person to deny interest in a job to later take it.

People just need to accept that there will be no comfort for Nebraska until the job is filled or until an extension with an eye watering buyout is announced

I love what Matt Rhule has done here. He has rebuilt a culture that needed it badly.

He has populated the team with developable talent and it’s on the right track. Took us from a D- team under frost to a solid B team.

That said if he leaves, I wont be happy about it, but at the same time it wont ruin my life. I cant control what he does much like an 18 year old playing commit hop scotch.

We would find another coach, and that coach would have a foundation to build off of unlike what Rhule had to work with.

Funny of you to think in 2025 that the entire roster wouldn’t leave with him.
