My point is, it's a little insulting to say it's cope.
Rhule has made 1,000s of comments about moving his family and what he looks for in a program and career trajectory and career goals etc....Rhule wears his thoughts on his sleeve.
All this stuff is out there to know what he's thinking. I can say I think he's staying without it being "cope."
You can make the argument intellectually that he's staying based on the written/recorded record out there (God knows Rhule creates enough of it). It doesn't have to be just "cope." That's dumb.

I just think cope is the correct word. I don't know another word to use.
I told a UCF fan he was coping when he said Frost wouldn't leave UCF for Nebraska because the expectations were too high here and recruiting here was harder and his wife really liked Florida. It's not that those things weren't true, but still, he was coping. This seems very similar to me.

I'm not the only one making that assessment though. This is a B1G podcaster with no ties to Nebraska and no reason to "cope."
I agree with that last line. This is really not that similar to Frost at UCF. Rhule is a completely different guy and he's at a completely different place in his career.

The podcaster seems to be primarily making the assessment that Penn State won't hire him. I agree with that.
I don't think the podcaster is saying Rhule wouldn't take the job if offered.
Nvm I guess he does say he wonders if it would be attractive. Still seems to be primarily making the point that PSU probably isn't interested

Is your point that Rhule is going to keep jumping around to new and different HC jobs every 4-5 yrs until he's 70? If you think that, you haven't listened to a single thing the dude has said.
Remember, after Rhule got fired and got his $50m buyout from Carolina he did a TV spot at NFL Network. He said he was auditioning with that because he was seriously considering being done with coaching forever and being 100% into broadcasting.
I'm not getting why people think Rhule is the type to do these HC status hops every 4 yrs. All he's talked about these last 3 yrs is how much he hates doing that LOL

Wouldn’t any half decent coach want a legitimate chance to win a natty? PSU has the resources to make that an actual possibility and I don’t think you can say the same about this job (in its current state at least).

It's better than UNL but not by enough. PSU is still out in the sticks, recruiting wise though. Their State College airport is so small they can't even fly a big enough charter plane to get to Los Angeles. They have to drive to Harrisburg (2 hrs away).
Rhule trades the lack of recruiting footprint in Lincoln for State College PA? No way would I do that.
It'd make way more sense to go to LSU, Florida, Texas. Why make your life miserable with recruiting into State College? No thanks.

Could be wrong but I was under the impression they basically have the mid Atlantic region locked down for recruiting. Also a significantly larger and wealthier alumni base for NIL. But yeah location-wise it’s definitely isolated.

Wow I thought PSU had been doing well (top 10) on yearly recruiting rankings but it looks like they're typically only in the mid teens.
