As much as I am very concerned that the team isn’t very good, I do buy the narrative that we lose today’s game in years past. That could bode well for the rest of the season

I am concerned that we have a lot of weaknesses and aren’t really excellent at anything.

Maybe that will lead to the season being a flop. But I’m going to hold out hope that we actually get better during a season for a change.

The schedule definitely gives us the chance to figure out things and still win. So let’s do that.
The biggest positive from this 4-1 start is: we've played 3 good teams, didn't really play that well in any of those 3 games...and yet we're 2-1. And only lost the 3rd by 3 pts (could have won it).

This is a HUUUUUUUUGE change from last 10 yrs. Last 10 yrs we only won games when we were clear better team and clearly won 2/3 phases.

How many times during Frost era did we watch a team beat us that played terribly and we went "why can't WE be the team that wins when we play bad??". Well it is happening this year. That is significant. The Michigan game is even an example of this bc we probably should have lost that by 20 but somehow we were about 2 changed plays from winning it.

Big positive change from last 10 yrs. Curse might be broken. That being said UNFORTUNATELY this team has a lot of flaws. But breaking the curse this year would be a very good thing.

Last year we likely would have been 2-3 through this same point in the year.

Absolutely. Im trying to hold on like you Happy Society, but damn! We have to get better at certain coaching opportunities. We can all see what we have with players and their limitations. Our coaches need to coach to our strengths.

Hot take (and unpopular take): but in this era of CFB you have to just celebrate when your team gets the W. There's absolutely no reason to be the eeyore and the "but actually" guy. A win is a win is a win is a win. Period.

It's not the 90s anymore where you beat La Tech or Cockeye State by less than you should and fans have to spend all week talking about how concerned they are. It's a different era now.

Unfortunately being a B1G/SEC fan is closer to being an NFL fan than it is to 1992 Nebraska FB. And in the NFL, all that matters is if you get the W.

we're more talented than years past, but still a flawed team. but outside of Ohio St and Oregon, every team in the conference is a flawed team

I don't think he makes the tackle but it was 100% a penalty.
The defender was literally 18 inches away from Barney. This is the same Barney who went down when a guy slapped his thigh pad.

If he didn't make the tackle he'd at least make contact with Barney and that'd knock him off his TD track.

But agree to disagree!

Maybe. I'm not trying to die on this hill. I don't think Nelson pushed him very hard. I don't really care.

Point was he was close enough to the play and obvious he was pushed in the back so you call that penalty 100 out of 100 times.

Not unpopular…logical and reasonable.

Two things here that many are unable to wrap their minds around.
