No. 1 safety Casey Barner headed to Nebraska for Michigan State game
The nation's No. 1 safety -- and top-rated prospect in Georgia -- for the 2028 class will head to Nebraska this weekend.

Barner is ranked as the No. 1 safety in the 2028 class.
Barner has taken a handful of visits already this season, including Florida State, Tennessee, and Georiga. He was in Athens last weekend.
He told 247Sports earlier this season that the aforementioned schools, plus Miami, Florida, Ohio State, and BYU occupied notable spots on his radar.
LSU offered him on Monday.
Barner (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) carries a four-star rating of 90. He's the No. 12 overall prospect in his class.
247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins assesses Barner's skill set and projection with the following description:
-Violent split safety that can get the ball back.
-Flows downhill with authority and strikes with a compact frame.
-Competes as a man defender and covers turf zone looks.
-Sees the game better than most his age, yielding sharp angles.
-Physical nature adds critical special teams value.
-Has the potential to be a back-end ace for a CFP contender.

That's not what I had heard. Heard he was extremely athletic for his size which is not something we have on the roster apparently.

this is how Andrew Ivins pof 247 described him
Green offensive tackle that lacks game reps, but one with a monster ceiling given the rare physical features and quick movement patterns. Moved to the United States for basketball as a young teenager before eventually trying his hand at football. Light on his feet and will find ways to cover the corner with his raw athleticism as he can dance to the tune of different pass rushers. Plays a bit upright at times, but has displayed the ability to get low in a three-point stance. More notably, can fire off the ball with some urgency when convicted in his assignment. Lacks play strength at this stage and can struggle with power-based defenders. Also needs instruction in how to get the most out of his long levers. Will be a longer burn as he’s still in the early stages of his development, but should be viewed as a potential multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff hopeful that will have a chance to man the left side of the line with his reach and fluidity. Could certainly out play his projection if he flips the switch in the run game.

I assume this means the Gerogia kid who just committed as I think he is our only WR mitt, but JFC Mongo, it would be useful to include the kid's name when providing info about him.

This is probably wrong of me, but I feel like we're in a safe space here...
but every time I hear of a kid named "Former Husker Jr." I assume it means the former player hooked up with a townie during college, never had a relationship with the mom and is long gone, and the mom named the kid after the former player just for the name recognition and to remind the father that he has a responsibility.
