What does running ability have to do with the mesh? Mesh is just shallow pick routes. Are you thinking RPO or am I missing something?

Picking nits here so my apologies, but I’m 100% positive the db on Dylan’s interception operated outside of the called defense on that play.
Meaning: Dylan actually made the correct read (it was man2man with safety help) the db just went rogue and made a play. If Dylan held the ball for a half second longer the seam route that was supposed to be covered by the db would’ve had 15+ yards at least.

Yeah - is his year three magic only due to dodging ranked teams ? He has a chance to do it again and go 9-3 which I think the vast majority of this board would be happy about

Not calling for LaTeef, Dylan is an NfL QB, my struggle with Nebraska for a few years is, IMO in the college game you must have a mobile QB or a dominant o line especially in the B10. We have not had a dominant O line since joining the league. Hard to win without a mobile QB and lacking a punishing running attack.

I'm not wavering on my 10-2. Right now we have the best QB in the conference and that raises your ceiling ten fold. Now obviously the run defense and offensive tackles in pass pro are a major concern. That being said, Michigan is probably the worst matchup on the schedule outside of Penn St, although Penn St. have not looked like world beaters to this point.
I'd be surprised if the 27 we put on Michigan isn't the most a team scores against them all year.

I think if you rewatch the rep, looks kind was just really good defense and a view of what DR was up against. They changed the picture pretty much perfectly from man to zone (looks like the CB is playing match). Could’ve hit the WR in the hole. Also note Teddy getting pushed into DR’s lap

Continuing to beat this drum. Michigan won exclusively on account of their three big plays. They didn’t move the ball at will. Despite clear gaps on offense, we were ahead in net success rate.

They’re a big play team, and aren’t very successful at sustained drives. All their scoring against OU was also on big plays as well. Disappointed we let three huge run plays happen, but learn from it and move on.

As always, YMMV from advanced stats. We actually came ahead on stuffed runs (DL played better than you thought). OL yards better on the Nebraska side. Highlight yards is the difference in having a guy like Haynes and IMO issues at LB and secondary in run fits on our side.

You must not watch the NFL - there aren’t many starting QBs that aren’t mobile. Even guys like Flacco and Rodgers move better than Dylan and they’re borderline senior citizens.

Yeah, I kinda misunderstood what he was getting at and I think he was maybe just asking about us using RPOs in general. You can use mesh concepts out of the RPO, but I don’t think that was really what he was getting at.

I watched the Greatest NFL QB maybe ever who was about as fast as a left tackle win 7 superbowls. And I am not at all arguing Dylan can move, he can’t so we better move the pocket or block. My point is if we can’t maul you up front and/or run the QB than we will struggle to be above a middle of the pack B10 team.

TBD how much is Michigan's edge play v. our OTs. Barham is probably a day 1/2 guy. Always going to be tough if their D can consistently get pressure only rushing 4, particularly when the pressure rate is as high as it was on Saturday.
