Butler

I thought the Butler hire was risky. Never been a DC and really an unknown what he would do/bring to the table. It is also early to be at the fire him stage. I have never liked the 3-4 and we are very weak/small at interior DL, so IMO that makes things worse. He likely wasn't going to be a "great" hire, but you never know.

If we want to be a big boy program, gotta go all in. On coaches and roster. That is how it works in college football now.
Matt knew he had to restructure his staff. If his reign ends bc they can't stop the run, he deserves the axe.

I know we love to listen @slattimer and his small town assistant high school coaching greatness.

But Nebraska lost that game today because Rhule has stupid standards that hamstrung the offensive line.

Teddy P shouldn't be starting at RT. Pritchett should be there. Or Pritchett should be at LT and Gottula should've been taking RT reps for the last month.
Dick.

But I don't disagree with you.

Dick.

Chill the fuck out. We have one of if not the best pass defense in the nation. There were breakdowns/missed tackles on every big run play. Could they have been in a better defense? Sure but that’s football, you’re not always going to have the perfect call.

We don’t have the d line right now but they will develop. Linebackers played like ass.

Who would have thought that we’d miss a guy like bullock. He’d get smoked once in awhile but was great on filling the correct hole. Today was a player problem.

No one will ever listen to a small fish like me but hire the best OC and DC you can. Never compromise.
I think it’s more important to go all in on guys from the portal. Hard to be elite in the big 10 unless you have day 1/2 guys on the line, which we haven’t had in a while.

I’ll be interested to see if anything get adjusted in the next few games. If you are getting gashed, at the very least your safeties have to be in the right spot and/or not miss a tackle.

I like you. Just wanted to point out Nebraska lost today because our tackles weren't good enough.

If they ever become good enough, then we can worry about the DC.

I still think he's auditioning for an NFL DC job. Nebraska is still going to be #1 in pass def efficiency after today.

And the NFL doesn't care about run defense. If Teddy P had knees, Nebraska wins easily.

I don't disagree with you at all on the state of the OL. The tackles sucked royally. They got dog walked more often than not. Biff's Butthole Surfers got into a bear look early and often to force BOB protection and exploited it with our shit tackles.

But the defense also sucked, especially in defending zone runs. gap scheme they were fine. Zone runs...draw...got gashed.

Plus, if JB is auditioning for an NFL DC job, probably better check when the O checks. Telegraphing 0 pressure from mug or drop 8 from mug, when the O checks to get into a great play vs that look, and you don't...not a good look...That's shit easy enough even a HS assistant can figure out and know it's a wet bag of dicks.

Of course if you can’t stop the run there’s no reason for the other team to pass. Regardless, pass defense is impressive so far

Maybe try not to run a scheme that isn't you, you're not TW. Maybe don't try and be like an NFL Team and run double mug with freak beasts at DL across the board when you're a fucking college team. Maybe, when an uptempo team checks when you're in double mug and clearly showing your intentions of blitz vs drop, you check as well so you don't get deep dicked by a simple fucking play. Maybe, have a fucking peel player when you're in 0 blitz. Maybe, stop slanting when you're just getting deep dicked by almost every zone scheme you see.

Was any long run not a zone scheme or Q draw?
100% agree. I do think he is running somebody else’s scheme, or it appears so. We are a year away from having a good defensive line. Maybe he was concerned about a wholesale change, maybe he was concerned we did not have the personnel to run what he wants to run…I don’t know. I do know there is a lot of work that needs to be done in a short amount of time.

Exactly. If we didn’t promote Butler how many P5 programs are begging for him to be the DC?
