It definitely depends on what rules they have for the scramble. The charity swat and giggle events usually have enough extra bullshit that low scores are realistic.

I played in the Cattleman's at Holdrege one year and I think after day 1 we were in 3rd or 4th place after shooting -19
I played in one 3rd place was 27 under. 31 or something stupid like that won. There was a lot of extra bullshit but not that much.

It's crazy how hard that 80 line is to break. I really had to get better at managing my game and decisions to get in the 70s.
I’ve been getting closer lately, have a couple of 81s this year and routinely scoring in the lower 80s when I have a good day. The main difference is all in game management like you said. Every time I used to pull out a 3 wood and hope to smash one to 20 yards out, I now will grab my 4 hybrid which I can hit much more consistently and end up 60 yards out, which is not significantly more difficult of a shot than 20 yards out for someone my skill level. Stuff like that has made a huge difference, as well as being smarter about when to aim for the pin and when to aim away from trouble.
