Crean Lutheran (Calif.) defensive lineman James Carrington backed off his commitment to Florida State on Thursday.

The program trending is Oklahoma.

After talking to three sources about Carrington’s process moving forward, I’ve logged a Rivals forecast in favor of the Sooners.

Oklahoma currently has Rivals No. 21 ranked class after landing four-star edge rusher Jake Kreul this week. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Carrington is trending to be the next in the fold.

Texas A&M was another program mentioned but the Sooners clearly have the momentum.

Carrington isn’t the only defensive line prospect Oklahoma is in on. The Sooners look like the program to beat for Hopewell (Va.) High’s T-Ron Richardson who is also slated to give his pledge at the end of the month. They’re battling Virginia Tech for Richardson and the Hokies are pushing to change the momentum from the summer.

Rivals ranks Richardson as the nation’s No. 29 defensive lineman. Carrington is the Rivals Industry’s No. 50 defensive line prospect.

Oklahoma has 16 commits to date in the class.
