Bekka Allick was in North Sioux City today for a meet and greet. My wife took our kids - and my 4 year old wore her Emmett Johnson T shirt jersey. For some reason she’s loved him since the start of last season and she asked for the jersey for Christmas. Bekka thought it was awesome and sent Emmett a picture of her in the jersey
My wife posted the picture thanking Becca and tagging Emmett - he put it on his story and then messaged my wife (not weirdly, I think…) my daughter was so excited she said “mom can you send him a video of me” which is very much out of the ordinary for her. Unscripted and unprompted she delivered this gem:

He replied to her with a video message of his own writhing 5 minutes of us sending it - said he’d love to be her friend, meet her, and sign her jersey when we are in Lincoln next. It was just pure and wholesome appreciation for fans, and more specifically for my children
Such a cool day as a father - I fell in love with a program for 2 reasons, 1) we were fucking good when I was growing to love sports and 2) access to players at meet and greets was so cool - even no name guys from the team, and then you just loved them and pulled for them (I.e. my lasting obsession with Frankie London as the best Husker of all time)
My kids (6,4,2) haven’t seen success in Nebraska Football but still love it, and now they are getting that same love of players through a different avenue of accessing them. It choked me up each time I talked about it today - Emmett will forever be a favorite Husker in this household
