Chicago Cubs plans...info/suggestions and help

It’s the city so anything is possible but that’s pretty safe area overall, I used to walk after dark regularly without much concern.
Wrigleyville has been pretty safe historically.

M<y wife grew up in Chicago and we lived there 20 years, her family still lives there. We get back there like ten times a year. Her brother is a fairly recently retired police detective. The people we see live in the city, not the burbs.

All I can tell you is pretty much everyone we know there doesn't take the subway at night (or even the day) anymore, they Uber/Lyft.

They even avoid the Magnificent Mile after dark. That never used to be true. It's been different since Covid. Areas that used to be 100% safe now carry a chance of crime.

I love Chicago and I have no fear about going there. But you have to keep your eyes open and don't put yourself in spots in which you could be vulnerable. Just common sense, basically. Also, I'm not saying you'll get shot - more a risk of pick pockets, robbery etc.

Take an Uber at night.

Don't disagree, based on where I stayed 15 minute walk tops up Addison directly to the stadium, the number of people as well as the number of police parked in the area (police station midway on the walk basically) i felt more than safe walking that specific route at night especially with a game that day.

Yeah I don’t necessarily disagree there’s a bit more crime etc post COVID than before but it’s a city so the deal has always been to use common sense and pay attention. I’d still take some lines on the El at night (eg brown line) and others like the Red line have always been kinda sketchy. It’s comparatively a pretty safe city, even at night.

I have a better time at white Sox games usually 🤷‍♂️ but I haven’t been in a couple years!
I was a fairly long-time White Sox season ticket holder, both at Old Comiskey and the "new" stadium (if it can be called "new" after 34 years) and my wife is a life-long Cubs fan who grew up taking her little brothers to the game on the L. It is possible to have a successful marriage even when there is such a huge gap in cultural backgrounds.
