there’s no skill in the punch out. That’s penal architecture. I don’t disagree that it’s one way to challenge players, but it’s not the best way. You can create the same kind of challenge with more strategic or even heroic architecture.
I’m sorry to tell you this but if you feel that way you should go design some courses. Oakmont has no trees on it. It's defense is the rough. If they played it at its normal 2.5” we would see 30 under

If you think oakmont’s only defense is the rough, you’d be wrong. Its greens, its length, its topography, its 300 bunkers, and its ditches provide the bulk of the defense.

As for players shooting -30 if the rough was mown at 2.5”, all the National championships they’ve ever hosted, only 27 people TOTAL finished under par. JJ spaun made it 28 because he sunk an 60’ bomb on the final hole. Out of ~1500 people. Im not proposing lowering the rough to 2.5”, but even then the scores wouldn’t sniff -30. That’s laughable. With the rain they’ve had this spring, mowing it at 4” would’ve been an ample test, might’ve given guys a couple more reasons to try a heroic recovery, and the winning score might be -3 or -4. Or maybe not.

It was 7300 yards and not every course is a flat walk in the park on the PGA. Those are normal things. Yes the greens are wild but it’s funny how you can complain about it being a putting contest and then name more than one thing you would consider Oakmonts defense. Hopefully this week someone at the travelers will shoot -31 because that seems to be the only thing that entertains you.

At this point I’m not sure if you’re purposefully trolling or just don’t understand a word I’ve said. Which is fine. You like the rough. I get it. We don’t need to keep going.

I am an idiot and somehow lost my SW the other day and apparently someone decided to keep it. I should probably get a new one because I’m golfing with @lee_carvallo_12 tomorrow and am already terrible when I have my full set.

Should I just get the same one again (AI Smoke HL) or try a different one?
Probably...but you can't go wrong with either Cleveland or Vokey wedges either.
