📢 DISCLAIMER 📢 The proposal below has not been endorsed, accepted, approved, approached or anything else with anyone affiliated with Nebraska athletics, Nebraska baseball, Nebraska baseball camps, the University, anyone affiliated with UNL in any capacity, 1890 and/or any agency/advisor to any past, current or future coach or players, etc, etc.

This is strictly one fan with an idea, that believes the Husker baseball program deserves a boost. I do feel confident in getting a meeting with our coaching staff and also 1890, to propose this idea. If you feel as though you have a friend, or friends, that aren't on tPB & will participate then please drop a +1, +2, etc in the reply so I know how many on top of your (current, non-binding) commitment. If you have a business that is interested, send me a DM.

I will also have one other poll in a few weeks & that will be a higher donation/month amount. It will also have benefits/rewards, but some may be the same. I'm just trying to get a feel. If you have a realistic suggestion, share it in the replies.

100% of the funds goes directly to the players each year. Whether that is to cover their scholarship shortfall, revenue share, etc is up to the coaching staff as they, and only them, will allocate the funds in accordance with NCAA & UNL rules.

Goal
Grassroots $100,000 per year

Cost per person
$50/month x 12 months = $600/year
Auto-deduction, no exception

How many people will it take
167 total ($100,000 ÷ $600)
167 people is a very small number, folks!

Membership benefits (pure spit-balling here)
(A) 4 tickets to 1 home game (conference series, NU chooses which). Includes tailgate to start 3 hours before the game with dogs, burgers, sides & beverages.
(B) Bi-monthly newsletter email from the coaching staff
(C) Exclusive 1 hour early access to baseball fan day
(D) 1 signed baseball from entire team

Pay in full benefit bonus, 1-time payment in full
Above 4 items plus 1 signed jersey from entire team
$600 payment due by September 1 each year

What will $100,000 do for the baseball team?

Used for scholarships?
Revenue Share?
Coach or staff salary?

Just asking how the money will help us have a more competitive team. I think it's a good idea, just don't know if $100,000 would make a difference or not.

Great question, I will add the answer to the OP.

$100,000 is the goal and I believe it's a low number. Our wrestling program is doing this, and without it, we don't get a certain wrestler over the weekend. Nor are we able to retain others 😉

im not sure i could show my leathered face after nicknaming our boys the cardiac beaver slayers. Ha.

$50/month is nothing and im sure most people wouldn’t skip a heartbeat sending it to our football team. Signed baseball, 4 tix with a nice tailgate beforehand with the other stuff sounds nice. What about an adidas jersey as well and/or a nice ball cap?

I’m more of a baseball guy by heart. I definitely think the price is cheap but if it helps our corches recruit and retain not only players but them, why not? Good post @PonyBoy

Do you have more info on the wrestling one?

Cool idea. I'm a maybe at this stage of my life, but guessing you'd blow past your goal either way. Just don't pull an Adam Carriker. 😅

I've long thought there's a big NIL appetite for tapping into middle class fans for low-cost exclusives. Whether it's a package like this or an a la carte menu of individual experiences, let the fans behind the curtain just a little, and they'll happily overpay way more than they'd donate.

I’d call myself more of a basketball fan as that’s what I have season tickets for. I do think it would be really cool though to have a solid baseball team. What you’re doing to bring the reality to light and bootstrap some NIL funds for them is pretty cool to see. I’m probably more of a no, not right now as the Mrs just graduated pharmacy school and student loans will be hitting.
