Judge approves House settlement - Schools to pay

I can see some of these smaller schools shutting down sports programs due to this. Backpay from 2016 and it's all sports even the non-revenue generating ones ?

Immediate lawsuits.

You’re effectively controlling the amount of money the players can make without an agreement directly with the players.

What NIL collective is going to go to a school to get it cleared ? They will just start paying athletes again under the table and the SEC schools will be the biggest benefactors from this.

Affected players were given a chance to disagree if they believed the settlement was unfair.

There is very little evidence that players object to the settlement. This seems to have had a much more favorable reception among players than most collective bargaining agreements have when they come to a vote by union members.

The power conferences are already working with some members of Congress to try to get the settlement codified, and for better or worse, I would predict a slew of lawsuits to overturn the settlement will accelerate Congressional action.

Sounds like walk-ons are grandfathered in.
I am assuming we will designate approximately twenty, and the twenty will need to fall withing the criteria outlined in the opinion

It will be interesting to see who we pick. I'd rather they designate someone young who clearly won't play for a couple of years but who looks like they might eventually develop into a player over an older guy who won't play. Let the older guy use a 105 spot to stay.

It’s going to be a lot harder to win an antitrust claim going forward given that this is all stemming from a court approved settlement. Future courts will give a lot of deference to this settlement.
