Rattlesnake Report in Lincoln

Allegedly, the university released rattlers south of Pawnee City. I heard this from the farmer whose land they were on. He found them, killed about 20 of them, then the university came asking where the heck they went, and he showed them the bodies. This was the guy that sold the quarries to Martin Marietta years back.
Fuck dem snakesIMG_3750.gif

Was it a prairie rattler? They're not native to Northeast Kansas, but we've had 2 in my life time close to my parents house which right near a UP railroad line. They've been known to slither up on rail cars as trains are parked in the sandhills/Wyoming and then end up here when trains are parked for crew shifts/etc
I have heard stories from people who work at OPPD in Nebraska City and they have said that it isn't unusual to see rattlesnakes in the coal trains when they unload them. They said that the coal cars are warm and the snakes crawl into them at night to warm up and end up somewhere else.

Sat morning from my neighbor

Snake Update:

the pic above he was headed to the space between my 2 across the street neighbors. One took the pic.
So I told the other one, who's in her 70s, as she is always out in her property planting etc. just a heads up warning.

this morning, i was driving out i saw her out planting more cacti

she said "I caught that snake" and took him away.

I said holy shit, wow. Did you use a Snake Grabber?

she said no he was really mellow, didn't rattle at all, he just balled up so I used my shovel, put him in a bucket, put the lid on, and drove him to The Desert. Dropped him off and came home.

I said: wow, yore a better man that I am.
