No I’m sorry. If we don’t have accountability police then what do we really even have?
I am going to come a little out of my 100 year old/decrepit postin body here. Accountability was my word last year to the farm hands. You can’t grow or be more successful without accountability Herb. It’s what cost Corch Scote. He wasn’t a leader.

I do believe Corch Matt Rhule will keep his program accountable. It’s the only way to run a football program especially those young glutes and pecs.

You’re telling me that the director of football opps is a 300k/year secretary position.
Like we have quarterly meetings we fly out to that a secretary plans the flights, hotels, food etc.. then I’m sure she does the senior management schedules daily. She doesn’t make for than 50k/year.
where I have worked the CEO's COS handled a lot of the day to day follow-up, etc, with the CEO's direct reports; i.e. the communication on routine matters, leaving the CEO to deal with them directly only on important/strategic matters. The COS would also be the contact for routine requests of the CEO. Basically, she helps get the most out of the CEO's time by taking the low value added work off his plate.

But this isn't accountability policing, it is ignorance manifestation. The simple answer is that you don't want a guy making $10M a year doing stuff some lower paid person could do, and it still takes some brains and know-how to be the person that can do the other stuff.

It's not a waste of money, it is a good use of money.

The COS is also going to have access to a lot of info the CEO wants confidential (i.e., stuff he is thinking about but no one else knows about) and the COS has to be trustworthy. The COS usually also runs sensitive projects for the CEO.

For example, I would guess Elza is the only person in the Football department outside of Rhule who knows exactly what Holgorsen will be doing if he takes the job.

“Director of football operations: scheduling flights buses hotels etc pretty much logistics almost every school has one for every sport”

That’s an administrative assistant(secretary job) making 50-60k not 300k

The former Director of Football Ops (Gordon Thomas) made $100K/year That is largely a logistics management job.

just some info on what some of these support staff jobs paid last year

NU football general manager Sean Padden makes $300,000. Football chief of staff Dr. Susan Elza makes $290,000. That duo makes more than three of the Huskers’ position assistants — EJ Barthel, Garret McGuire and Rob Dvoracek — who bring in $285,000.

Other support staff member salaries include $190,000 for director of football nutrition Kristin Coggin — in constant motion at NU’s football practices — $175,000 for coordinator for football sports science Mitch Cholewinski, $164,800 for senior director of player personnel Vince Guinta, $160,000 for director of high school player personnel Omar Hales, $155,000 for director of football advancement Mike Wallace, $150,000 for director of football relations CJ Cavazos, $125,000 for assistant to the head coach Jarrett Wishon, $120,000 for offensive analyst Adam DiMichele and $100,000 for director of football operations Gordon Thomas.

I also think there isn't a 50-60K secretary out there who could handle this job.

Arranging transportation (flights and buses), hotel space, meeting rooms, meals, etc., for 150 or so people is no small task and it requires a lot of coordination with vendors to make sure everything comes off on a timely basis. That part of the Ops job is really a meeting planner job and requires way more experience than a secretary who makes travel arrangements for the boss and his staff would have.

Basically Elza manages all the people that handle non-football related stuff that are essential to running a power 5 college football program.

I'm guessing the football ops, equipment, recruiting people, food people, psychology people, academic people, NIL guy, social media, film etc etc etc all answer to to Susan Elza.
