Are you going to watch the new Game of Thrones show?

This show is worse than season 8. Characters are unlikeable and stupid. The plot only advances through misunderstanding and the dialogue sounds like it’s written by a soap writer, save for the lines quoted directly from the book. Not to mention how poorly the time jumps were done and some characters were aged/replaced and others didn’t age a day.

It’s kind of shocking how well this is received, although maybe not too much as there were a ton of people that defended the original show until they saw how brutally stupid the actual ending was.

Got so excited about tonight’s show I rode my dragon 🐉 to take out the trash 🗑
Put the pipe down, farmer. 100 is within spitting distance, and this is no time to develop a drug abuse problem. OTOH, what have you got to lose?

I like the parallelism between the first two episodes and this one. The picture below as well as the walkway scene between Daemon and Otto with her coming in on her dragon.

Very good first season. Like I've said in the past there were changes that I mostly liked. No adaptation can 100% mirror the source material so changes must be made and I really liked a bunch of them.

Stop reading if you don't want spoilers....

The showdown at Storm's End was pretty different than in the books. Aemond was definitely trying to kill Lucerys in the books and Boros Baratheon stopped them from fighting in his hall but afterwards one of his daughters mocks Aemond and makes him even more angry then Boros says something to the effect of "I don't control what you do outside of my hall." That wasn't included in the show. (still could be retconned)

The change that Vhagar and Arrax couldn't be controlled was taught to us by Viserys in the first few episodes. He says "Dragons are a power man should never have trifled with" and "The idea that we control dragons is an illusion"

Daemon in the books states that "Dragons are not horses" and Danerys says "Sometimes Drogon went where he wanted"

Speaking of Daemon, he's not a good person and should be judged accordingly. While they still lionize him it doesn't mean he is a hero. HotD is not making him a good guy like they did with Tyrion in GoT. Tyrion in the show was a pretty solid dude, in the books he is likeable but still pretty despicable.

The biggest change from the books IMO is that Rhaenyra and Alicent were never friends and were much nastier to each other in the books. But maybe they didn't want to have one of them (or both) be so much like Cersei from GoT.

It was an excellent first season and yes we will have to wait awhile for season 2 because of the scope of the scenes that will need to be filmed. Lots of battles and lots of dragons means long shoots and tons of CGI in post production.

Regarding changes… I feel like they have an easy out. The source material is based on third hand accounts and not official story telling. So, those third hand accounts come with bias and perspective that we get to escape in the show.

I have a theory that a lot of what you posted above sets the stage for. The connection between the dragons and their riders actually changes the riders, too. Hence as the series continued Dany got crazy.

The short stories are great and more lighthearted than Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones).
This trailer looks like they will do justice to Dunk and Egg and I'm looking forward to this very much. Takes place 100 years before GoTs and has major implications for GoTs as well. And, we'll finally get to see younger Blood Raven who is such a bad ass in the books. In GoTs he's actually the old man that is attached to the tree roots in the cave that Bran learns from. The OG 3 eyed crow,

can’t wait to dress up in my Camelot outfit w my wooden sword and watch !!

I can't wait to see the Ravens Teeth. (mounted longbowmen who used weirwood long bows and loyal to Bloodraven)
BR makes his appearance 1st in The Mystery Knight at the Blackfyre tourney in The Mystery Knight story. Raven's Teeth might be in there at the end idk how they will adapt that. If they ever do Blackfyre rebellions then Raven's Teeth will be a major focus and their guidance system arrows,

I'm sure they will give us some BR Easter eggs this season.

But, I'm not convinced that they will give us another series based on the Targs again. (Blackfyre Rebellions) Seems like the audience will get tired of it. I'm honestly wondering if aKotSK will totally confuse a large part of the audience who hasn't read the books since there are so many Targs with the same or similar names.

GRRM has talked before of a show 1000s of years in the past which I would assume is all Northern Kingdom stuff. Give it to me if so.

I htink they are going to keep making shows as long as they are printing money. I am all for it. I think this one will be very successful. I wonder if they would expand on the planned Dunk and Eggs stories. They are all short stories, so Martin could probably give them broad strokes and they could adapt them since he doesn't write anymore.

I wonder what they would do next. I heard potentially a Yi Ti show or Nymeria show. Those seem way out of left field. Too bad the BloodMoon show ddnt get through pilots, I thought that sounded interesting.

HBO shot a pilot in 2019 then canceled it. It was called blood moon and started Naomi Watts. It was set during the long night 5000 years before the main GOT story line.
I'm still waiting for the Jon Snow spin off. I do love the history of GoTs but I would love to see the fallout of the original series.
Kit Harrington said they (development team and him) shelved it because they couldn’t come up with a compelling story.
