With the news that broke that Keyshawn Greene, another 4-star has decided to leave Nebraska, who is also a Floridabraskan or whatever the stupid acronym is. We of course ask, what is going on?
Dean Callahan, of HuskersOnline.com and proud spokesman of QFT Lending, assured us that this was a personal decision and his sources confirmed him that he was highly likely walking away from the game of football, about 24-hours later, Greene announced via Twitter he was going to attend Florida Atlantic.
That makes (3) 4-stars who have transferred in this past class before the freshman season has even started. This year isn’t an anomaly either. As we have had a wave of transfers ever since Frost has been here, some have been Riley recruits, but a concerning amount has been Frost’s own recruits as well.
Now I’m not placing 100% blame on Frost, as COVID19 has definitely played a factor in all of this, and I also don’t expect the transfers to stop, and that goes for all teams. I really believe the flood gates are going to open and this is going to turn into similar to college basketball, with transfer rates of classes around 15-25%.
The NCAA really needs to get on top of this and not punish teams who players decide to transfer, they need to get ahead and revamp the system. I’m not against players being immediate eligible for 1 transfer, but I believe it should exclude conference teams.
Should Nebraska refocus its resources from Florida? With the current trend, it might be the way to go as I’m sure the current wave of players transferring so quickly causes alarm bells and rumors to spread among the current and future Florida recruits.
Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana are all states in SEC country we could have better success in. Not to mention refocus our attention on Texas possibly, but I really think we need to do all we can to lockdown St. Louis, Kansas City and the surrounding states. Especially Cockeye and Colorado.
Missouri, Kansas, Dakotas, Cockeye, Colorado and Nebraska have a combined fourteen 4-stars and one 5-star right now for the 2022 class and that number will grow. I see no reason why Nebraska should be able to land at least 40% of those kids. 8 of those 15 though are from the Kansas City/St. Louis area. An area we have been greatly lacking in.
My past-weekend thoughts? It sure was fun watching the army machine roll, although it was just Mid-Tennessee State. What happens if they go undefeated this year? I know Trump will be demanding they be including in the college football playoff if that happens. Merica. 🇺🇸
