POLL Will Rhule be fired at the end of the 2026 season?

I think it would take a HUGE disaster for him to get fired after this year, but I do think it's very possible that it'll be mediocre enough that he gets viewed as a lame duck in 2027.
My hope and expectation though is that we'll make our third straight bowl game and look more like the original Rhule vision in how we play, which will lower the temperature. I think he totally compromised his vision of being a tough underdog lunchpail type of program over the past two years, and wasted a lot of time/energy placating the Raiola situation and trying to be a flashy "cool" destination for recruits instead. It seems like he's trying to get back to the basics. I hope it works, I can't say I have a whole lot of confidence though.

Gonna have to explain Dannen, he didn't hire Rhule, extended him when we were winning. Men's basketball is killing it. Pat Stewart is who should be on the clock
My opinion is he will probably get 2 years. If;
- '26 is decent and not just getting blown out like the end of '25
--- schedule makers split the bigger games IE; no ending the season with Ohio State, Indiana @Cockeye
- the '27 recruiting class is quite strong and signs.. needs to be top 15ish going into August..
-'26 carousel is just as wild. Nebraska leaders/boosters are way more conservative than 99% of CFB
-Dannen doesn't pull an Eichorst and go rogue and do weird redhead cult shit.
Side note:

Dannen, as in the AD fired before the football coach (I know, TA fired Frost but didn't hire him). Basketball isn't because of Dannen. The further commitment (resources) began under TA. Dannen has maintained it.
2026 team will be Pat Stewart's first roster. To put the most recent hire "on the clock" is strange af.
Can we talk about the WR room for next year.
Personally I feel like it’s a contender for the most complete WR room in program history.

You have Janiran Bonner coming back you and have select packages for. Jeremiah Jones and Jackson Carpenter coming off a redshirt. Nalin Scott and Larry Miles coming in as true freshman

Raiola’s no longer around to sabotage the program. Losing Ek will cost us a game or two but our dynamic throwback qb makes all the difference and we finish 8-4

The buyout doesn't magically get cut in half and waiting a year isn't a magic cure all.
Nebraska just had the easiest schedule it's had for the forseeable future and the recent past and went 7-6 and maybe you can argue could have won 9 with Dylan.
But it's back to reality in 2026.

I just hope the Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon games are in the back half of the schedule so we can have that warm and fuzzy 2 months of false hope to start the season
