We went out and got a DC who is known for having fast and aggressive defenses (I think).

We have an OC who is known for high tempo offenses that score a lot of points. We've got a dual threat YOLO QB now and some good WRs.

Is this the year we get to see the Holgorsen offense paired with an aggressive defense and great special teams?

Or am I dumb for asking?

You mean like this?

Holgo seems amazing in our first two drives...after that, it becomes a lot of WTF at times. Fingers crossed with a new highly mobile QB we look a lot different.

On Defense...fingers crossed.
I've noticed this and it's starting to be slightly concerning. Tell me I'm overthinking this and he's a good coach for an entire game.

I can tell you that I tell myself I'm overthinking it and that he's a good coach for the entire game.

I like to think it's because he's restricting himself or being reatricted to high percentage, low risk plays. My only reasoning is the last year, until raiola got hurt, if we needed to score we usually got it or were able to move it well.

I'm hopeful having a QB who isn't changing the playcall frequently and not as liable to get sacked along with an improved offensive line helps some of this. There are already talks about how Geep is doing away with Donnie's blocking preferences and wants them to play more aggressive instead of overthink things.

Would love that. Also believe that Coleandras true dual threat ability changes play calling too.

-Matt Rhule is the boss. Rhule's history at Nebraska dictates the offense will be at the bottom of the tempo rankings. Nebraska has ranked 100+ in FBS in Seconds per play each year he's been head coach.

-Dana at Houston never was above 47th in the same metric. You'd have to go back to about 2018 for him to crack the top 25. So, 5.5 years of offense since he's called anything that's resembled high tempo over a season.

-Dana hasn’t been a consistently strong playcaller since his WVU days. Since 2018, he’s produced only one good season in Adj/EPA (2022). The other six seasons have largely landed in or near the bottom half of the FBS (65th, 53rd, 28th, 93rd, 59th).

I just don't see the evidence that Dana magically does some cocaine and goes back to air raid/tempo, especially with Matt Rhule.

But hey, that'd be amazing and it will beat watching Colandrea take under center snaps for the first time in his life (probably) 🤣

How much of it was raiola changing the play? Can’t risk his passer rating by throwing downfield. Much better to take a sack or 5 yard completion (on 3rd and 6) in Dylan’s opinion IMO
