January 2026 Recruiting thread

sweet a backup from ISU will solve our LB problems...we already have several young LBs, we need experienced difference makers. Unless we have some going in the portal this is a headscratcher.

Hawthorn is a true freshmen. Dismissing him as a 'backup' is a bizarre mischaracterization of the situation.

Buckle up its gonna be a long two weeks

We were after him a year ago. Very well can be a depth/ST piece till further developed. Not an endorsement, but a possible reason.

Oh I get and fully understand the possible reason but we also took 3 LBs last year didnt we? Guess we can keep playing the youngest team around card though.

I had just assumed we already had plenty of unproven youth at LB.

I wish the gayest retards in our fanbase weren’t the ones interacting with recruits on twitter but it’s something only the gayest retards would do so…

They just whiffed on all of their top LB targets in the '26 class, so adding a FR LB is a need. Hawthorne happened to be one of their top targets in the '25 class and was available, hence the early visit.

We are running more of a 4-2-5 with Aurich right? for young LBs we have Merritt, Jones, Mooberry, Ochoa, Bower that will be Soph or Jr next year. Guess I just assumed we would look for older dudes primarily. Assuming we get the LB from SDSU it doesnt look too bad but just curious.

Do Merritt and Ochoa end up as edges in the 4?

Am I the only one that thought Bower looked slow AF every time he was on the field and had to move side to side?
