I wish that would've been the case a few years ago. But he is getting up there in age. Hell, he would be 67 years-old even if he was coaching Nebraska at the start of the 2027 season.
Unranked to begin season...
2-0 with wins over Central Arkansas & Kansas.
#25 ranking for game 3, a win over Louisiana.
#23 ranking for game 4, a win over South Carolina.
#20 ranking for game 5, a win over UMASS.
#14 ranking for game 6, a loss to #8 Alabama.
Dropped 2 spots, gained 1 spot, dropped 7, unranked then a win over Mississippi State gets them back in the rankings - just in time for a game against #8 Oklahoma.
SEC always has the most teams ranked pre-season and always has the most ranked when the season ends. Despite the fact they haven’t had the best non-con record of bowl record for several years. Biggest difference between Minnesota and LSU on paper is how LSU and their conference opponents are perceived by the media and pollsters.
