As long as he’s not official “DL coach” that’s fine I guess. It sounds like Dave Tollefson may have a role in DL coaching in 26 according to Fat Sam.
Why? Honest question. He seems to be universally respected. Is it a recruiting thing? As long as he’s not official “DL coach” that’s fine I guess.
Yes, it’s a recruiting thing. Why? Honest question. He seems to be universally respected. Is it a recruiting thing?
Completely understand this point.Yes, it’s a recruiting thing.
With each passing year, I become more and more convinced that CFB is a talent acquisition contest. You want your coaches to be good coaches, obviously, but bringing in someone with 0 college coaching experience would be foolish in this day and age of CFB.
Completely understand this point.
I saw a Twitter post today from Dan Casey who listed the four questions T. O. asked when hiring a coach and ability to teach was 4th. In the first 3 were characteristics required in recruiting.
He doesn’t have zero college coaching experience. It’s not D1, but he coached DL and was the assistant head coach for IWCC., but bringing in someone with 0 college coaching experience would be foolish in this day and age of CFB.
Sounds like a really good way to recreate a relationship with IWCC.He doesn’t have zero college coaching experience. It’s not D1, but he coached DL and was the assistant head coach for IWCC.
Would have coached with Ekeler at Indiana.Mark Hagen just became available. Former Louisville DL/Co-DC who has a lot of B10 experience
Hagen would be a really solid hire. He's a good coach.Mark Hagen just became available. Former Louisville DL/Co-DC who has a lot of B10 experience
What the scoop here? Why was he let go?Mark Hagen just became available. Former Louisville DL/Co-DC who has a lot of B10 experience
My guess new DC wants his own DL coach. What the scoop here? Why was he let go?
Ron English requested to be let go so he could spend a year watching his son's final season playing football at Navy. They were Co-DC at Louisville & coached quite a few years together. Figure Brohm is going to let new DC hire build his own staff out. Thought Louisville had a pretty decent D overall this past year. What the scoop here? Why was he let go?
Very solid. Louisville was top 25 in rushing defense this year.Hagen would be a really solid hire. He's a good coach.
edit: having thought about it for a minute. Would prob be the best DL coach hired to Nebraska since Carl.
LMAO
Thanks. Just wondering why we would be interested in someone who was relieved of their job. Didn’t know how Louisville’s D was this year.Ron English requested to be let go so he could spend a year watching his son's final season playing football at Navy. "I've been saying it for a long time, I will not hire an assistant coach until I've seen his wife. "If she looks the part, and she's a D-1 recruit, then you got a chance to get hired. That's part of the deal. "There's a very strong correlation between having the confidence, going up and talking to a woman, and being quick on your feet and having some personality and confidence and being fun and articulate, than it is walking into a high school and recruiting a kid and selling him."
Above is James Franklin circa 2012. Lane Kiffin said similar years later.
