What Child is This / O Holy Night if you have two communion hymns. Joy to the world is always a great recessional
O Holy Night is fantastic
Always loved O Come O Come Emmanuel as well. So many great ones this time of year
My other favorite is lu le lu lay. If you want to hear a song that always bring tears to my eyes look up John Rutter's Candlelight Carol if you aren't familiar with it.
Singing most of these in my head as you gentlemen post them. My Mom (RIP) was a church organist for 50+ years, so I grew up with ALL the hymns (practiced on Saturdays on the Yamaha organ at home; performed on Sundays at Trinity Lutheran / Lutheran Church of the Master / Hosanna Lutheran). Church music was a YUGE part of my life.
Big fan of I heard the Bells on Christmas Day.

One of my favorite Christmas hymns was actually based on an English folk song:
When I was little our church used to sing a verse of Silent Night in German - Stille Nacht - since the majority of the community was German heritage. Always thought that was cool to hear my grandpas sing it.
I’ve heard this before and it’s the exact same tune as “What Child Is This”. Not sure which is the original but it’s the same song with different lyrics.
Silent Night is incredible when sung in unison amongst the parishioners - would love to hear this version live
Add to this the candle lighting ceremony and it always gets misty for me. Every other year, we did Christmas in Forbes, ND with my grandparents and always sung the German verse. Heck, if I answered the phone at their house, the person on the other end was always talking German...
Was visiting the in-laws in Alabama so went to Christmas Mass in Auburn. The professional was come all ye faithful in Latin. It was pretty good
Haven't attended mass in like 15 years, but the Latin "oh come all ye faithful" is an absolute Christmas banger
Not a hymn at all, but as far as Christmas songs go, I’ve always liked The Pretenders even though the video is super weird.
