He probably wanted to see if he can win a Natty. He wasn’t ever going to win one at Utah. It sucks because they upgraded big time over Moore.
Short term though. Doubt he coaches very long. Keeps them respectable though and makes that next hire easier.
I’m not saying he will win a natty but Michigan gives him a legitimate shot. He could easily be in the playoff next year. Considering the circumstances they made a good hire. A guy like Brohm would have probably been better due to age. I still can’t believe the Michigan AD hasn’t been shitcanned myself.
The fact that the AD has a job and is involved in this search tells you just how much they actually care about the parade of crimes and violations marching out of the football offices.
Yeah, this is a hire they make planning on having him for 3-4 years while he cleans things up. Apparently the faction that wanted to gut the entire AD is winning
AD knows where all the bodies are buried and likely worked hand in hand with boosters etc to help cover up and do their bidding.
I can’t see the AD squealing. He knows the game. If anyone will talk at some point it will be Moore. He is fucked anyways.

That’s exactly what a Kyle Whittingham hire would be. Guy who runs a tight clean program, clean things up all while keeping things at least respectable on the field. If you win a NC with him, unlikely, it’s a bonus. Either way the program is better shape for the next coach.
Michigan got thrust into the coaching carousel at such a late point there just isn’t a sure shot home run hire out there. At least not one who is available right now. So… so find someone who can keep them competitive on the field and clean up the filth left by Harbaugh and Sharrone “me so horny” Moore.
Side note… How did Sharrone Moore’s personal deficiencies slip by Michigan in the hiring process? He was already young and inexperienced, you can’t hide that. Plus he was on Michigan’s staff for several years. How the hell did they let a young, inexperienced coach with massive personal issues become their HC? Bottles the mind…
They were in the middle of a couple of scandals and he knew where the bodies were buried. They might have needed to keep him quiet
I though Wittingham retired?
He was “stepping down” from Utah but was quite vocal that he would consider other coaching opportunities.
