You and your dog should be euthanizedI wouldn’t consider my wife or myself white trash, in fact very far from it. I think we did get lucky though with our adopted Bully. They do have pretty thorough records of taking him through temperament testing before adoption.
- We encouraged the shelter to have General interact with dogs before we would adopt him (this was done with us there) and before he was deemed adoptable. We went to go see another dog (Cane Corso) and she was dog aggressive which we didn’t know when went to go see her. However when they met through the glass General just laid on the ground and fell asleep while this other dog was going nuts.
- First goal was to get him into obedience training with Kenl Inn which we did. Then we took him into every store that allowed dogs to get him use to sights, sounds, smells, and a variety of people (young, old, big, small, loud, quiet).
- Once we continued with training and him tagging along with us to Tractor Supply, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and pretty much anywhere that allows dogs; we got him listed as an ESA. If not for covid altering the schedule of our training company, we would have had him do the full therapy dog course and he could attend schools and go into all buildings.

I have no doubt there are some good ones. The problem is even the good ones seem to snap at the oddest times when you least expect it. I feel bad for the dogs, it isn't their fault, but man it is definitely the breed. I watch a ton of court shows (Judge Judy, People's Court etc.) and it is 98% of the time a pitbull that is causing problems. I just don't understand the cost vs benefits of owning one. There are dozens of other dog breeds out there, why risk it when you don't have to?I wouldn’t consider my wife or myself white trash, in fact very far from it. There is no reason to own this hellhound. It won’t make their small peckers any larger. If you like bully breeds then get an English bulldogI have no doubt there are some good ones. Can you imagine if it did make them bigger? Every guy would own one 🙂There is no reason to own this hellhound. It won’t make their small peckers any larger. If you like bully breeds then get an English bulldog
I see your point and respect your view (thanks for respectful reply), I guess you could say General picked us. The way he interacted with an another dog (completely ignored them), and how he just curled up into our laps and fell asleep. It’s cliché but my wife and I felt called to give this dog a chance and bring him into our family.I have no doubt there are some good ones. I'm a dog guy and have never had an issue with a pit bull (have never owned one personally), but I will say the only time in my life I ever really felt unsafe with a dog was when my best friend had a pit.
Friendly dog that never did anything bad, but when playing with it, the friendly growls and the way it played felt like I was messing with things well beyond my control.
I still believe that the overwhelming majority of pits are great, and that issues are magnified by 1) being disproportionately bred, owned and trained by ghetto people, 2) the media routinely misidentifying lots of other large dogs as pit bulls, and 3) the fact that with what pits are bred for that the results are more severe (toy breed dogs are far worse tempered overall and it's not close).
But there's that small unpredictable roulette chance that seems to be bred into them, and I'd never personally gamble on owning one in any scenario where the dog was going to be around kids, or uncontrolled around other people.
I admire your passion. I'm sure you're not white trash or ghetto, and I'm sure you're a responsible owner. Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, but Pits are the ugliest fucking beasts that roam the earth. Do you really look at that creature and think, "Aww, he's so cute"? Factor in that he's a four legged death machine, and I have to ask, what's the appeal?I wouldn’t consider my wife or myself white trash, in fact very far from it. I would do that with every dog, I believe that’s part of being a responsible owner.sounds like a lot of work to hope your dog doesnt maul someone.
You’re free to your opinion whether it aligns with my views or not, no issues here. I’m trying to process and think what a real life situation like you suggest would look like, and torture not sure I’m following?Would encourage you "responsible" pit owners to not torture us normies who do not want your dog outside anywhere near us or our families.
