Breaking Terry Bradden -DL

He didn't pick Syracuse over Nebraska. My understanding is that the confidence of Kehres to Nebraska was coming from Toledo's side of things. I'm guessing that they believed that since we brought him in for an interview that he would obviously get the offer too.

The only people who have said that he chose Syracuse over Nebraska are Syracuse reporters. Of course they are going to spin it that way.

In reality, Nebraska brought both Kehres and Aurich in last week. Aurich fit what Rhule was wanting more (go back and listen to his presser - he describes Aurich's attitude). The DB coach thing was all fan speculation and never came from and official report.
Syracuse also told us that McCord picked them over Nebraska too, forgetting the part where a 5 star QB flipped to us instead.

We interviewed Kehres, he turned us down, chose Syracuse. Now we’ll hopefully hire the guy that Syracuse just fired to open up Kehres’ spot. As co Dc, for 7 figures. Get on board.
Woah, you better let Lane Kiffin know this. We'd hate for Matt Rhule to be the one who embarrasses himself by hiring Robinson to coach the defensive line.

Not accurate, Kehres wanted to bring his Co-DC and LB coach (Ross Watson) with him. Rhule said no as Williams is better than Ross Watson as a coach and recruiter (I think we all agree here). Kehres took the Syracuse job and Ross Watson went to Cockeye State, if Kehres turned us down as he demanded Ross Watson to be on staff, then why didn’t he take him to his next job?

I have theories on why someone like Kehres would prefer Syracuse vs what we’re doing. We’ll see which method works but it’s obvious we’re focused on the transfer portal saving the day. I’m sure we need someone like Elijah to bring in immediate starters for 2026.

“All we're doing is swapping twos [second-string players]... Everybody's twos are upset, so they all want to leave, because they're twos. So guys are just swapping twos right now, swapping different ones. For me, I'm not trying to swap spit. I'm going to stick with my guys and develop our guys.”

You are welcome to think Williams was the reason our secondary was elite. I tend to think it was more Butler given their respective backgrounds, but that’s fine. Agree on the recruiting side.

Cockeye State over Syracuse for a Midwest guy that was in Lincoln for a while is not wild. Kehres would have kept him if he were here.

Kehres didn't prefer Syracuse over Nebraska. Nebraska preferred Aurich over Kehres.
