Some of it is just part of negotiating higher NIL imo.
That's where schools need to start being allowed to sign players to contracts for their side of contributing side of factors and for those contracts to be public.

Those contracts will probably happen sooner than later, but the whole public thing, will never probably happen.

I expect Huge Hog and McGahee for sure. I guess I’m going to have to stop calling him huge hog which sucks.

Who else do we expect to enter today?

Allegedly NU has some guys hitting the portal today.

Will complete the annual tradition of some people simultaneously saying our roster is horrible & melting down over players leaving.

Just to set expectations, the FBS average is something like 19-22 players portalling each year. From the B1G/SEC, it's like 16-18. We are widely expected to be active in acquiring portal dudes this year, and nobody can designate anymore dudes as exempt (grandfathered walk-ons) + have the 105 hard cap in place, so there will definitely be significant turnover.

I assumed the small 2026 recruiting class was due to us being young + planning to hit the portal hard. But I have no idea. Someone smarter than me could provide some insight?

The question is really will he do another ChatGPT poem to announce his decision
I'm already ahead as a Nebraska fan:

Dear departing QB, we totally get it, bro—
You looked at the playbook and saw “1997” in hieroglyphs.
You threw for 400 and we still lost by 30,
Because our defense treats the end zone like an open bar.

You asked for “no contact.”
Buddy, we haven’t made contact since Tom Osborne retired.
The only thing we’ve hit lately is rock bottom
And apparently the transfer portal “submit” button for the 47th time this decade.

So go.
Go chase a playoff, go chase a girlfriend who doesn’t wear overalls to games,
Go somewhere that doesn’t smell like boiled cabbage and broken dreams.

We’ll be here, yelling “There it is!” on a 4-yard slant,
Clapping when the punt team comes out because at least they’re competent,
And refreshing your highlight reel while crying into a Fairbury hot dog.

Don’t worry about us sliding in your DMs.
We can’t even slide a blitzing linebacker,
Let alone a thirsty “come back shawty” text.

Peace out, king.
Sorry we sucked the talent out of you like a cornfield sucks the soul out of everything else.

SKOL… wait, wrong fanbase.
GO BIG RED—lol jk go literally anywhere else.

you would be correct
If you're going to have a really small class then 78% of your class can't be 3 stars and then expect to actually compete with the top 1/4 of the Big 10.

You sign as many blue chip prospects as you can and then deal with the non contributors that they are better than. Top programs aren't taking 9 guys in a class. Nebraska has 2 "blue chip" kids in this class. If that's all they can sign after 3 years...this program is not going to elevate past 6 or 7 wins a year.

I think we are competing for top 1/2 of the B1G, Rhule can say whatever he wants to say but which assistants on our staff are top 25 at their job? What position groups are top 25 in the country? I am coming to the realization we have no urgency in turning this around. That is from Athletic Department all the way down. They keep cashing checks, we keep giving them money. Nothing over these 3 years says compete with the top 25% of the conference.
