So… Where do we go from here?

I'll tell you exactly what will happen. We've all seen this movie before.

Next season will be rough and the heat will really get turned up on Rhule. Turned up so much a good portion of the fanbase will be out. The season after next season will be do or die and during or after that season, probably after, Rhule will get fired.

Rinse and repeat.

Agreed, but also need:
2 RB (EJ gone and no other P2 backs on roster)
2 TE
2 WR
3 LB (included 2 x Jack)
1-2 S
1-2 CB

I'd also like to get a good kicker. Don't trust Cunnanen. Will also need a QB if Dylan decides to take his talents to south beach or eugene
What in God’s green earth would make you think Oregon would even consider Dylan if he transferred? When was the last time they had a statute at quarterback?

Next year I expect a full on Pelini us vs the world bunker type mentality from him due to the increased pressure.

After last night, i don’t think there’s any more QB controversy. Lateef looked way in over his head. Expected though as he’s a true freshman. We still don’t win that game with Dylan, but the offense probably looks less fucked. Spend whatever we got in the trenches and some skill players and do what you gotta do to have EJ return. It’s pretty simple, we’re not there “dude” wise. Was pretty obvious watching them walk outta their tunnel vs us. Go get some grown men in the portal for the trenches instead of taking a discount on guys that’ll need 2 years before we see it on blossom. I understand Rhule wants to “develop”, and that’s cool and all but no one cares if we keep losing these games.

Cockeye can beat Penn state cuz they have an OL/DL. Time to stop dicking around with Donnie, even NIL/transfers do nothing to help him. See if pot roast wants to get off the Tony white train & come back. Buy OL/DL/RBs.

I’m also concerned that it’s going to tough to get the players we want (o-line) with Donnie at the helm. I’m afraid the book has been written on him and if a top o-linemen has a similar NIL offer from another school he’s gonna pick the o-line coach that has a history of making his players better.

We’re 7-4 and likely to be 7-5 after next Friday. Rhule has a new contract, he’s not going anywhere and we’re honestly only marginally better. Also, we potentially have a QB contraversy… I say, try to keep both QBs, I think Lateef can be convinced that he’s not ready yet, but he can be our guy eventually. Hopefully you can keep Dylan committed, but don’t hamstring yourself financially if the ask is too big. I think keeping Raiola is the ideal path, but if he and his camp are demanding too much you gotta let him walk. What I think the more important objective should be getting better in the trenches.

IMO, we need to let the chips fall where they lay with regards to our QB situation. As long as we keep 1 it’s not the end of world. Try to retain both within the context of making the entire team better. If that means cutting Donnie’s sack and losing Dylan, so be it. Our number one priority needs to being fixing the O-line and D-line. We need 2-3 o-lineman from the portal. Retain Justin Evans and get an OT and OG. Or get a C, OT and OG if Evans isn’t back for some reason. Then we need a legit NT (run stuffer) and another pass rusher on the D-line. And if you (Rhule) don’t think we can rebuild/retool the o-line with uncle Donnie, and you think firing/demoting him will cost you Dylan. So be it. Getting better upfront is too important.

Summary… IMO, We need to get better upfront on both sides of the ball and that has to be the number 1 priority above all else. And if that costs us a good QB and shitty OL coach it’s worth it. What say you? Where do we go from here…

(also kinda drunk so I apologize if this is all over map)

I think TJ will bounce back this weekend and have a stronger game against the cockeyes. Happy Valley’s a tough environment for a true freshman starting his second game.

I do think it’s pretty hilarious how all the resident quarterback gurus who were ready to anoint TJ and run DR off after a single game against a terrible UCLA team, are nowhere to be found this morning. TJ‘s completion percentage was a solid 10 points below. DR’s season low. Pretty tough to spin that stat. But some have so much inexplicable dislike for DR, they’ll fail to admit what is truly clear.

We hired a “developer of talent” at the same time the rules changed (portal/NIL/Rev Sharing) that made development 2nd fiddle to talent acquisition through the portal.

Trying to develop young talent, in many cases, means you’re developing talent for another school to poach. The Texas Tech model is probably the more effective strategy going forward. Let other schools develop them, once they show they can play, buy’em up. Unfortunately, that’s not a strategy every team can afford. But if you can, it seems like the most effective strategy with the current rules.

Why do we need two TEs? And why do we need two WRs? Why don’t you trust Cunanan?

Stay the course but raise the standard. It’s real easy to be a badass when you’re up 30 on Akron and “leak” the halftime video to the world. It’s another thing to start calling out shit play during conference wins. I want to see more of that. Saban did it all the time. Cignetti does it. Great coaches are willing to call out bullshit despite the result. Rhule has only done that when it’s convenient.

If your standard is truly championships and CFP appearances, then act like it and draw a hard line.

It’s still nice to have a developer of talent and fill the void through the portal. Cockeye can develop linemen on both sides of the ball, but for some reason we can’t especially on the offensive side. To me that says Raiola should be fired. He isn’t working.
