Edwards played in just four games this year and thus may utilize a redshirt option

Welcome to The Platinum Board. We are a Nebraska Husker news source and fan community.
Sign Up Now!If he wants to be RB1 then he might as well stick to the big 12. He’d sign his death wish trying to get Emmett’s workload in the big ten at his sizeAveraged about 100 touches and 650 yards in his first two full seasons. Those would be solid numbers for an RB2.
To me…the biggest question with him is would he be willing to come in as an “RB2”? Methinks he would not.
That would be my concern he's not very big and he's already having injury issues in the Big 12.If he wants to be RB1 then he might as well stick to the big 12. He’d sign his death wish trying to get Emmett’s workload in the big ten at his size
I haven't seen EJ on anyone's board higher than RB7-9 and he's not on a lot of boards at allThis. EJ has a strong stock to go in the NFL draft, so why risk it for another season?
EJ should go pro. A better question is whether EJ plays in our bowl game or not?
I'm most intrigued/excited by the fact this will be Pat Stewart's first outing in the portal.
It'll be a big portal year for Nebraska but the quality of player will be interesting to see.
The thing I see someone hurting him with a better room is his numbers being downI haven't seen EJ on anyone's board higher than RB7-9 and he's not on a lot of boards at all
I don't really see him projecting as a starting running back in the league unless he lucks into a situation like Tyrone Tracy. Obviously i like him but I don't think he breaks 4.52 and isn't as physically gifted
Does he stay if he gets a day 3 grade? I think so. Especially if he projects to be even more efficient next year in a better room behind a better line
Whole lotta nothing in this articleAdapt or die. That’s the central issue facing many programs across the college football landscape. It sounds like Nebraska (and its boosters) are adapting.
The crazy coaching carousel found its way to Nebraska once Penn State decided to let go of coach James Franklin. Coach Matt Rhule was a natural fit for the position because he played there.
He is close friends with Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft.
But Nebraska fans were able to take a heavy sigh of relief when Rhule agreed to a new contract extension. Yes, the deal adds a couple years on his deal and ultimately nets Rhule more money.
But that wasn’t the most important part for Rhule as he rebuilds the Nebraska program.
Here’s the clause that caught my eye in Rhule’s new deal:
“The University shall make every reasonable effort to provide nationally-competitive resources for Program support (currently designated as “revenue sharing”) for player retention and acquisition.”
It’s been made very clear to me by sources close to the program that Rhule wants to compete financially with the best programs in the sport. We may never know what financial assurances he was able to secure to spend on players but Rhule believes the money is there now.
“Rosters will change over every year. We have the money now. I can’t complain anymore,” Rhule said Monday. “Like, we got what we need.”
“We can now go get anybody we want. At the same time, we also have the ability to keep our guys now. Guys don’t have to be embarrassed about, ‘Hey, Coach, these people are offering me this.’ I think we can now be the best. … I want to put the best players in the country in this room and not worry about, ‘Hey, can I afford to do it now?’ Some people might still have more than us, but we got a lot.”
Now the question becomes: how will Nebraska use the money this offseason?
Part of this equation will certainly be roster retention. Nebraska has played well for most of this season and will finish with a better record than last year. That means some players got better, will want new deals and other teams will tamper. That’ll take some of that new money.
Nebraska has clearly been gearing up for a big portal spend this offseason. Offensive line, defensive line and linebacker should be at the top of the wish list. Rhule thinks he can compete in ways they couldn’t last offseason when the program missed on top targets.
But what about the 2026 recruiting class? Are there any surprises still on the table that more spending could help deliver? Nebraska will likely take some big swings there since the class ranks 17th in the Big Ten with just 11 commitments.
Again, that’s partially by design but if some blue-chippers become available because of all the coaching chaos Nebraska should look hard.
The 2025 season still has football left.
But the arrow is pointing up for Nebraska. The program has just become one of the more intriguing ones to watch make moves this offseason.

It's Junior College; if you can't figure that out, then yeah, might as well avoid going to a bigger school.I'm assuming this kid figured out how to school finally?
I remember when people were foaming at the mouth when they didn't offer Isaac Zatechka even a PWO spot back in that era too.I remember some people being so pissed we missed on this dude. 4 years later, here he is still in Juco.
He was never going to Mizzou or Nebraska with his grades. Obvious when he committed to Wyoming. Reinforced when he transferred to Butler.I remember some people being so pissed we missed on this dude. 4 years later, here he is still in Juco.
