Does TJ Lateef give Nebraska a better chance to win than a healthy Dylan Raiola?

Aren't the examples I provided not consistent with that, though? They might be anecdotal in regards to what we're discussing -- just a couple I thought of off the top of my head.

Absolutely, I was agreeing with you and pointing out that TJ fits that scenario.

If he balls out and we go 3-0, I'm very confident in saying this fanbase will want him over Raiola and many will want Raiola to leave.
Since this is all hypothetical, I have to admit I would be one of those fans. I give massive props to Raiola for coming to NU and genuinely wanting to give his all to get us to the next level but I think it's fair by now to wonder if his skillset matches the type of team we can build here, and the type of "identity" Rhule has claimed that he wants NU to have.

We will always have imperfections, almost every college team does, and veryyyyy often our imperfections have to do with not finding top-tier pass blockers on the OL. Raiola is an awesome dude and incredibly talented, but so far he has not been SO talented that he can overcome everything else happening on the field, like a shoddy OL. Every time we've ever attempted to run a kind of "statue" drop back passer offense in the modern era, our OL has not been up to the task. I mean even Zac Taylor is known as a hero BECAUSE he got the shit beat out of him due to a bad OL. Those guys are incredibly rare and expensive and they aren't looking our way.

So my point is, I think there's a chance that Raiola reaching his ceiling depends on him playing somewhere with legit top-tier pass blocking OL, and our ceiling depends on what Rhule said from the beginning before Raiola got here, which is having an offense built on "toughness" and establishing the run. In my opinion, that takes a QB who can keep a defense off-balance by making things happen with his arm and legs.

I'm not saying I want to recruit all T-Magics from now on or run the wishbone, just gimme somebody who can replicate what Ganz did in 2008 with 258 rushing yards, or what Rhule's QB at Baylor did in 2019 with 344 rushing yards. That just has to be part of the equation I think.

(Having said all of that, if we DON'T go 3-0, obviously I'm nowhere near wanting to say bon voyage to Raiola haha. My point still stands in general though.)

We aren't going 3-0. If nothing else Cockeye will continue to shove us into a locker.
