Is it really a better job? PSU might be slightly higher in the Big 10 pecking order than Mizzou is in the SEC, but he has Walmart money backing his NIL now
Think we’re seeing a new state of CFB in NIL and playoff era. Isn’t hard to see from top 15 and results on Saturday that there’s more parity than ever. Think there’s much less of a draw to jump ship, esp if you have things in a good spot.

Would anticipate that jumps are more of the Pelini to Arkansas (we’re both getting tired of each other) variety.

Me refreshing FlightAware for the 81st time and wondering whether Zac Taylor was aboard the C56X that flew back to Cincinnati from State College Regional Airport last night

It’s definitely a better job today.

4th-5th best job in the richest, most nationwide conference in football > 8th or 9th in a regional conference

If Walmart makes a Texas Tech level commitment to NIL to keep him there then maybe not

why do you believe this is his dream job? Has he ever said that? He doesn't have a reduced buyout if he quits to go to PSU, which a number of coaches have negotiated for their dream jobs.
I believe with certain that PSU is Rhule’s dream job regardless of what’s said publicly. He loves that program and his dream scenario is being their next Paterno. I think assuming anything other than it being his dream job is kidding yourself.

BUT… it doesn’t mean it’s the dream scenario and the dream timing. He has a good thing going here, his family is treated pretty well given his first two seasons delivering a 12-13 record, and PSU just set the bar of the program very high. Anything short of playoff births in each of his first three seasons could result in losing his dream job very quickly. Does he think right now is the time to take that job? Or perhaps after the guy who replaces Franklin?

And that also ignores whether PSU sees him as the right guy. Which I don’t. I mentioned elsewhere but Kraft isn’t the decision maker. It’s the President and the Board. Kraft is just doing the legwork. So IMO too much weight is being applied to their relationship. The president and board are going to see that hitting Rhule, unless he takes us to the playoffs, won’t garner fan and booster support. And that’s what they require.

Yes, PSU and USC are tied for 3rd best job IMO in the P2. If I had to pick one, I’d probably go with USC.

Mizzou is behind Bama, UGA, UF, Auburn, Texas, A&M, OU… I can probably keep going but think the point is made. Regardless of Walmart money, that’s a lot to navigate to win big on an annual basis.

PSU the third best job in the P2?! You could talk to me on the big ten (but I’d probably still disagree) but the P2?! I’d love to hear your full rankings of P2 jobs.

Ok…tied for third…Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Bama and I’d probably put Michigan over PSU…immediately come to mind for me

Who are your top two?

Jobs better than PSU? In no specific order I'd have these jobs as "better": Georgia, Bama, OU, Texas, OhioSU, Michigan, Oregon, USC, LSU, Miami, Florida State. I can also make an argument that Nebraska is a better job than Penn St. as well.

I’d put LSU and yeah prolly Oregon and OU in my list too…good adds.

Agree. They are similar to Texas A&M, Auburn, and probably a few other schools where their fans believe they are national title level and they are really nowhere near that. Nebraska fell in that category for a long time, but at least we have come around. Outside of cheating, Michigan kind of fits that bill as well.

I meant Big Ten. I got caught up in some inner dialogue about the BIG being one of the P2 jobs and just never proof read what I wrote.

Continuing, the point I was trying to make was you have two P2 conferences and ranking the programs in those conferences sets your ease of path to the playoff.

Michigan? I’m sorry but that’s a great job and 100% national title level, and ahead of Nebraska.

I agree it is ahead of Nebraska and is a good job, but their fans act like they are National Title Caliber every year. Since probably 2000 only probably 2-3 teams under Harbaugh were anywhere close to that. Constant disconnect about where the team was vs. what the fans perceive. Nebraska had that problem for a long time as well, but when the hardest of times finally fell upon us we recalibrated as a fan base. Michigan, PSU, A&M, Auburn, FSU and probably some others have a total disconnect of where there team is vs. fan base expectations. All I am saying.
