Oddly enough, we haven't seen any deer yet. Lots of bald eagles and humming birds. I'll be interested to see turkeys milling around as well.

Wife wanted a house on the water for decades. I finally told her to stop shopping in the Ozarks and ponds in/around Omaha due to cost and location and I'd listen. Kids can visit whenever as it's 15 minutes from our home and their apartments in Omaha.

She's surprised I like the place so much. More work to do, but it's manageable with no infrastructure issues - just improvements. The work and clean-up are the rewarding parts. We're blessed with a screened in porch, beautiful river views and sunsets.

You can take the boy off the farm, but not the farm out of the boy. As Coach Rhule said...he wanted to stop enjoying life and wanted to start living life. Lots of wisdom in that statement.

Since you don’t have studs you could try furring strips attached to the concrete with masonry screws. Might need to shim the sloped portion to create a level surface for the bottom sill.
