Pat Forde column on Coaching Carousel Chaos (Rhule)

Precisely, do we really want to take a chance on an ugly HC? If you’re extraordinarily ugly (or fat) you have to be a national championship caliber coach, period. Anything less is just an unnecessary embarrassment.
It’s why I could never get behind the Matt Campbell train last cycle. He looks like he had all his teeth knocked out and super glued back in

@Cornicator also - I just looked up Dillingham's salary. 5.8 mill instead of 10 at PSU? Women and money stay undefeated. This would be a great showdown because "women" would lead to ASU, "money" would lead to PSU.

I feel like there is a dollar amount in the millions where happiness and family supersedes the deficit you can receive from other programs.

6 million to drive 10 minutes on Easter to my mom's house and have my kids see their grandparents weekly on both sides or 10 million to deal with relentless pressure and be away from family?

And one thing to keep in mind, Power 4 coaches receive housing stipends per month that are equal everywhere.

He also gets to live in a major city where most people won't even recognize him.

Happy valley would be the opposite of that

I am surprised at the lack of Joey McGuire talk for PSU/Florida/etc. He has utilized that oil money in Lubbock to develop(buy) an excellent team.

Personally i think he doesnt leave and i dont blame him. Texas Tech has positioned itself to dominate the Big 12 moving forward. Much easier path to the playoff and youre still in a recruiting hotbed.
ADs like to hire young coaches who someday might grow up to be Joey McGuire rather than just hiring Joey McGuire

You and I certainly agree there. Unfortunately that’s not what we’ve seen be the norm approach.

Although, Dilly ain’t normal haha

He's not a better "Chief Executive" than Rhule. But he's an elite Offensive Mind. And if he retained Mozee, Nebraska would absolutely take the 10 best players in Missouri every season.

That move would be a death punch to Mizzou as much as it would be a positive for Nebraska.
I've got family that are in Blue Springs. Big Mizzou fans. They say that Drinkwitz has a blank check for NIL similar to (but a lower level than) Oregon/Phil Knight. Mizzou's NIL is from the Wal Mart daughters.

I'm 99% sure Drinkwitz thinks Mizzou is a better job than Nebraska. Forde as a Mizzou grad would have to know this.

I would LOVE Nebraska to get a coach as good as Drinkwitz if Rhule ever left. I think the chances of it are 0.00%. Also Drinkwitz is a southerner. No way he would leave the south to coach at Nebraska. He's only leaving for a Florida, LSU or Texas school. Book it.

Everytime I listen to him on local news here in Phoenix, I just think what a goob. Nice guy, players like him and seems like a decent coach. But don’t think the Andy of Mayberry persona fits at Happy Valley.

An unserious look at what Forde considers a possible domino effect in the coaching carousel this year

- UCLA hires Kalani Sitake away from BYU

- Steve Sarkisian leaves Texas for BYU. Sarkisian is an alum and would leave due to pressures of the UT job

- Texas hires Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss

- James Franklin leaves Penn State for Ole Miss

- Penn State hires Matt Rhule, a Nittany Lion alum

- Nebraska hires Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz. Forde notes: "Drinkwitz is a savvy portal operator and a relentless recruiter, both necessary traits at Nebraska."

- Missouri hires Ryan Silverfield from Memphis
A lot of those dont make sense. Including is Nebraska a better job than Missouri right now? Especially for a portal guy? I think Nebraska needs a development 1st mentality.

lol in what world does ole piss want penn states sloppy seconds? I get that this wasn't a serios post but come on
