I think the O-line needs it’s own thread…

The OL did not pass block that badly yesterday. A lot of the issues with pass pro came for EJ and Lindemeyer, and from Raiola not getting ball out fast enough.

They ran some blitzes off the edge that absolutely nobody picked up or saw coming. I remember one play specifically where the safety came off the edge completely untouched and plastered DR. DR didn’t see it coming pre-snap and nobody picked him up, free run to the QB.

And I think some of that was prep. MSU normally, this year, hadn’t blitzed all that much. They’re not like Michigan and Wink Martindale who’s known for lots of exotic blitzing on 3rd down. I think MSU was doing some stuff we didn’t really see on film. And a lot of it worked.

Serious question….. is the O-line banged up and little bit and Rhule & Co. aren’t saying anything about it? I’m not trying to make excuses but it definitely feels like they have actually regressed since last year and even since the Cincinnati game? I’m OK with Donnie moving on to a different job but Rhule doesn’t seem to discuss injuries especially when they aren’t season enders. Can any of our insiders look into this?

After the first game everyone was bitching that he took what was given and threw the outlet pass and not downfield. Now people bitch trying to get chunk plays and passing up outlet passes. Can’t win with some.

Also I think during that stretch during the second and third quarter it might have been one of the worse called plays by Holgorson. Made the line look worse than it is. In hindsight should have called more quick short passes and run the ball more.

Another thing I notice is our line gets a great initial push but either Johnson is slow thru the hole or play design is that. When he takes the ball and explodes with dancing he gets chuck runs or 10 or more yards.

I missed it. As an outside guy seemed to be pretty consistent that there isn't a lot of love for the guy.
He's a go to punching bag whether it is merited or not.

OL was not the problem yesterday. Dylan was responsible for 6 pressures and two sacks out of ten pressures and 5 sacks.

MSU only blitzed Dylan ten times on pass plays. 6 of the ten pressures were on plays with no blitzes. They didn't get him by rushing the passer. His TTT on pressure plays was 4.05 seconds. He just didn't know where to throw and held onto the ball. Either everyone was covered or he was expecting a coverage post-snap that he didn't get, which compromised the routes he had called and increased the interception risk. I imagine that is why we started the tunnel screen game in the second half.

He has horrible vision. From our end one seats, he often choose the wrong read. I know it's easy to say from our seats, but it's just crazy how often it happens.

In regards to EJ...

I agree. Love EJ and does anlot for the team especially in pass game abd Eeasy to see sitting in south endzone and not having 11 guys flying at you but misses a lot of hidden yardage on the field.
