I kind of want to rewatch the 1st half but then I'd have to listen to Tillman and his side kick's derp derp commentary. Watching it with no audio just doesn't have the same feel. Can't hear the crowd going nuts. I guess my ears are just going to bleed.
The radio call to s always available on the app. Sync it up and do it that way.

Umm. Against our 2’s sure. I’m still concerned, but there has been nothing against the 1’s consistently since Cincinnati.
Before today, running backs went for 40att/207yds/5.18 ypc. Today they were 28att-122yds-4.4ypc.

So on the season we’ve allowed running backs to go for 68att/329yards/4.83ypc.

That’s pretty ugly considering the competition.

You need to rewatch the first half defense again if you’re concerned about the run game. They had one fucking first down until the last drive in the first half. The starters never played the second half. Will next week be a challenge? Sure. But acting like they just rushed for 200 yards against our starters… get a fucking grip.
Maybe I do need to rewatch it again. But it seemed like HCU shot themselves in the foot multiple times with procedural penalties and put themselves behind the chains and situations where they had to throw it.

But I'm the founder of the Happy Ending Society...I still believe we will roll next week. I have a feeling that it will be a lot like Colorado last year. We will be ready.

They had 52 total yards in the 1st half. 108 in the 2nd half with the one run for 45 yards. There were no concerns about the defense yesterday nor against Akron.

We heard a lot about LB Jacob Bower during the off- and preseason. But it looks like he's behind Michael Booker, who I forgot was even on the team. When the 2's started the second half, it was Merritt and Booker at LB. Bower subbed in later. And Booker got some PT in the first half, too. I had to look up to see who number 43 was. Interesting development for all the talk Bower got.

I'm coming to the conclusion that the more Rhule talks about a player that isn't a starter in a PC the less likely they are to play a meaningful snap of football.

I must not be paying enough attention because I believe this is the first time I've seen/heard this name.
He was awarded a schoarlship during spring ball. There was plenty of talk of him being a factor and getting reps and linebacker. Rhule said he "played like a starter." Maybe it wasn't a major storyline, but there was certianly more talk aboue him than Michael Booker, who is apparently in front of him now. This is from the 247 story about him getting schollied:

We're also figuring out to keep an eye moving forward on the California native in the Husker linebacker rotation.

It's not completely out of left field. Linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek has dropped Bower's name in interviews. Former D-coordinator Tony White brought him up unsolicited last year too as showing up a lot. And as we've shared here at Husker247, he was a player getting quality two-deep reps during the Pinstripe Bowl practices.

I probably saw and just forgot.

Noticed that too. I thought Merritt looked pretty damn good. Sound tackler that runs full speed through the tackle. Hopefully he keeps it going in years to come and doesn't fall off like WG4 and Lendhart

I don't think it is fair to say that Lendhart has "fallen off." I guess, by the technical definition, he was a freshman all-American, and he isn't an all-American anymore. But he is a starter and one of our best DL. He just hasn't played much this year, due to the blowouts. I still strongly believe in him as a player.

I see it a little differently. He hasn't done much since his frosh year, and doesn't seem to be getting any better. Yes, he plays, but I wouldn't argue he is one of the best players on our DL. I think he starts because he's a good kid, who has been in the program for awhile. I have the similar feeling with Jeudy. Jeudy is a starter and he is not near the level of RVP. There are a few others too I would argue are better than Jeudy. Not saying they are bad people, but they aren't getting the job done.

DL needs to be our first, second, and third priorities in the portal this offseason.

Yep. Need some big boys in the middle. I like the future with RVP, The Terry kid, Kade P, and a few others but also need to find some large lads for depth in the Big 10.
I completely disagree. I think we probably need to make getting a stud DT the #1 priority in the transfer portal, but so will probably every other team in the country. Those guys are needed everywhere.

We don't have a true "run-sropper," but the rest of the DL is in really good shape for the future. Yes, we are taking our lumps right now, as our young kids are learning and continuing to develop. But let's look at that state of that room:

- RVP is only a sophomore.
- Keona Davis is a sophomore.
- Gabe Moore is a sophomore.
- Kade Pietrzak is a freshman.
- Williams Nwaneri is a freshman.

These are all underclassmen that are getting legitimate reps right now and have very bright futures. There are a handful other other younger guys that are not in the rotation right now, but still have plenty of time to develop.

I'm not trying to claim that any of these guys will be the next Suh, but look at Suh's sophomore season. Here is a snippet from his profile on Huskers.com

"Suh played in all 12 games with 11 starts, producing four games with four or more tackles among his 34 total tackles on the season. All six of his tackles for loss came in a four-game stretch early in the season."

Aaron Rodgers is a psycho for a lot of reasons...but maybe we need to take his advice a bit here. R-E-L-A-X.

Plus we are redshirting Malcom Simpson and Tyson Terry due to injuries - two guys that we expect to be impact players eventually.

I hear what you’re saying but if the above we will probably lose two - that’s just how modern CFB is right now.

Plus, if we can upgrade from what we have now, wouldn’t you want to do that?

Time to act like a big dog.
