Career Stats: 13 interceptions, 70 passes defensed, 31 forced fumbles, 19 fumble recoveries, 39.0 sacks, 1,602 combined tackles, 169 tackles for loss and 73 quarterback hits in 198 game starts

- 3 time all pro (1 1st, 2 2nd)
- Super Bowl champion
- Somehow only 1 pro bowl (wtf)
- Will finish this year solo 8th all time in career total tackles
- depending on health could realistically end as high as 5th at end of his career for total tackles
- will finish career 5th in solo tackles in NFL history
- tackles for loss became a stat in 1999. He is #9 and the only player not an edge rusher or DL in the top 13
- 11 seasons with 100-plus tackles are third-most since 1994, behind London Fletcher and Bobby Wagner.
- will likely finish top 20 in NFL history for forced fumbles
- 10th in NFL history in passes defended by a LB
- since 1991, David is just the eighth player in league annals to record 40-plus sacks and 30-plus takeaways, including playoffs, joining Karlos Dansby (good player but not HOF worthy), Ray Lewis (HOF), London Fletcher (how the hell is he not in? Will one day get in), Julius Peppers (HOF), Junior Seau (HOF), Jason Taylor(HOF) and Brian Urlacher (HOF)

Does not get near the individual accolades as his peers but was every bit as good as say a Bobby Wagner who will be a stone cold lock.

He comps closely to London Fletcher, who is also not in the HOF (which is ridiculous in and of itself)

He absolutely deserves to get in (clearly biased he is my favorite Husker ever), and I think he will eventually get in, but he may be in for a bit of a wait, how long that wait is will depend on who retires around the same time.

I plan on doing this for Suh at some point as well. Complicated legacy for him in the NFL, and his candidacy will come at the same time as guys who are likely first ballot: JJ Watt, Tom Brady, Zach Martin, Aaron Donald, Jason Kelce. Should definitely be in but not as cut and dry as we may think as biased observers.

David has had the most productive yet widely unappreciated careers of the last two decades.

Football people and Tampa Bay recognize how great he's been, it just hasn't transcended the sport like it should. Likely since he just goes about his job and isn't flashy about things.

He deserves to be in for sure.

Yep. If he played for the Cowboys he’d already be in.
