Frost being Frost

Interesting nugget in here about Frost/NU that I missed at the time. After Frost was fired Bruce Feldman mentioned on a podcast that he had heard that one dumb thing Frost did (among many) was that at the end of close games, as Frost was tensing up, he would call plays that the team hadn't even practiced all week. And the players were like WTF? And usually the play failed miserably or led to a turnover.

I don't know how I missed that nugget of info at the time. That explains so much of why our end of game behavior was often so bizarre. They were running deep cut playbook plays that they hadn't practiced.

That's just incredible

That's even worse than Solich shitting his pants and calling nothing but options. Or calling a fade pass from the 9 yard line with Lord throwing against the best secondary in the nation.
Or how about the game when Pelini was having medical issues, and Tim Beck took over at halftime and had a panic attack.

It was a non conference game in 2012. Either Arkansas State or Idaho State.
Yes. Pretty sure it was Arkansas State. It was a super close game at halftime and Pelini came down with some sort of illness or heat issue. It was a hot day. I think Papuchis was the official interim, but I was told Beck was freaking out.

pussy shit

time to light him up

No. He stirred the pot after literally having years and months thinking of a better response to that question.

If he said it in the heat of the moment after firing, understandable. But you didn’t have the common sense as a highly paid head coach to think of a better response?

It ain’t revenge; hell, it might be more natural selection.

Frost's biggest problem RE: this is that he never put out a statement after he was fired. He could have got everyone moving on by having a PR firm type him up a statement "sorry it didn't work out - appreciate all the fans who supported us. I'll always love my alma mater" etc.

Have a 25 yr old PR intern write you up something. Put it on Twitter. AS MOST COACHES DO. And move on.

But Frost has never really addressed the fans since he was fired. That's partially why they're pissed off now. He could have ended this easily with a canned statement in SEPT 2022 and maybe 5% more self awareness after. But that's too much for ol' Scotch.

Those margs in Phoenix weren't gonna drink themselves, I'm sure he had to get right to work.
