It's interesting, but be careful of the conspiracies they get pretty crazy. This is when the Alex Jones's and those types started to gain their popularity, and the basis of a lot of the conspiracies you still hear today.

The rumors where that while everything was grounded there was a flight or flights that left the US to Saudi Arabia with Bin Ladens family members and other Saudi nationals with out any intervention by the FBI. The 9/11 Commission found there where flights of Saudi nationals and government officials that left between Sept 14th-24th. One flight left with 26 Bin Laden family members on Sept 20 with 22 of the members interviewed by the FBI before it left. But @mcgradynu saying the Bin Laden family members where being picked up that day when everything was supposed to be grounded is what adds to the confusion of the timeline of that day and the days after. I don't want to turn this thread into a 9/11 conspiracy thread but if you want to go down that rabbit hole here is an article that I found from a fact checking website from March 31st 2002 with more information about the flights. I don't know if the information is still accurate after all these years, but it has the quotes from the 9/11 commission's report.

In fairness, I did say he was helicoptered out private. I don’t recall what the FAA was saying in regard to helicopters then. And you have to remember too, the whole Bin Laden family is pretty wealthy and most of the family had already excommunicated UBL by then. Perhaps he was helicoptered out of New Hampshire that day to meet the other family members and then was on one of the flights out to The Kingdom between 9/14-9/20.

That’s also not to say however that I don’t still believe there are many aspects of that whole event that I believe need further examination.

That's might be where the rumor came from, the Bin Ladens were gathering up their family members by helicopter to fly them out later, and somehow it turned into they were flying them out of the country. Thanks for the story it is always interesting to find out more about what was going on that day.

Alex Jones is a nut, but some of the shit he says is actually true. The Sandy Hook shit was way over the top.

A lot of experienced pilots said there was no way those yahoos could have flew the plane into the pentagon the way they did either. The main one I believe is the one plane was shot down by our military.

I was at a 3 day meeting at the Marriott in Dana Point, CA and had gone down for breakfast. They had set up a TV so we could watch. It was surreal at first, like a movie. Around 1PM they cancelled the rest of the meeting and told us to drive home.

About that same time there was a rumor that there was another plane headed for L.A. That had a huge impact on the traffic as in it just disappeared. When I drove back to Newport Beach from Dana Point on the 5/405 Freeways one of the busiest in SoCal, a distance of about 30 miles, I saw maybe 50 cars total on the road. That image sticks with me to this day. Like the end of the world empty.

In early December I attended a neurology preceptorship in Connecticut and stayed in Manhattan. I walked down to Ground Zero and it was still a gigantic open hole. I remember thinking how large the area was. Each of those buildings had their own zip code to give you an idea of what a presence those buildings were. The most emotional part was seeing the hundreds of pictures of missing people and requests for information on each put up by family and friends. That was tough.
