Nebraska will add 16 scholarships spread out across baseball, softball, wrestling, soccer and track.


Then, on July 1, 2026, that number will increase from 16 to 36.

The primary concern is that any new scholarships added for 2025 will be deducted from the $20.5 million. Moving forward, the hope is that next year, the newly added scholarships won’t count against your overall rev-share cap.

***As for football, the total number of scholarships for 2025 will fall between 84 and 87, I’m told. The rest will then be paid out in rev-share, as they have been doing in the past with NIL when they were over the 85-scholarship limit.

***Baseball will be the most curious case study here on what Nebraska and other Big Ten schools do moving forward. Many SEC and top ACC schools, over time, will fund the full 34 scholarships.

In the Big Ten, there is a greater emphasis on wrestling and volleyball, two sports where the Conference dominates on the national level.


Once things get to a point where added scholarships don’t count against the rev-share cap, I’m told Nebraska will have at least 25 scholarships committed to baseball. Currently, the number is 11.7 pre-July 1. I know athletic director Troy Dannen feels like they can do baseball and wrestling at a high level at NU, along with the obvious sports like football, men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball.

He was injured in both 2023 & 2024, and wasn't very sharp this season. He threw a few games and that was it. I'm a big fan of Tadan & the Bell family.

I don't think we're taking any more until the draft is over and a couple guys (current players & portals we're in on) make decisions. Which surprises me we accepted Bruegman's commitment.
