I look at those hires as fixes that needed to be made by not hiring the right people to begin with. I'm happy he made the switch and didn't dig his heels in but those issues were ones that he created himself. I'm not a slap you on the back, good job guy for fixing a problem that you created.
I give him credit and a slap on the back for changes like this. Almost every coach makes mistakes like this, probably the majority don't own them. The fact that he adjusts and makes the tough changes is evidence to me that we hired the right guy.

I was kind of chastised by a lot of our fans when I stated the 2023 team would be a 4 or 5 win team. It was fairly obvious that they still had a bunch of holes when Rhule took over. And I was absolutely positive that Jeff Sims was terrible. But I do understand what Rhule thought he could do with Sims. He knew the pass catchers on the roster were garbage and finding a QB who could run the ball 15 times per game was the best pathway to 6 wins. But not even Rhule could predict the absurdity of Sims fumbling 1 out of every 7 plays.

And then last year, when everyone was claiming this team would be 7-0 going into Ohio State, many fans couldn't believe what the hell I was talking about when I said they would be a 6 or 7 win team. I felt like Raiola was going to hit a freshmen wall at some point, 5-star or not. I knew Neyor and Banks were a step up from 2023, but still not tough enough matchups to help out the freshman QB.

So I have to chuckle now that so many fans are skeptical about the progression of the program. I feel like many of the same fans who couldn't see the forest through the trees the last two seasons are now still just looking at the tree line.

This is an 8 or 9 win team. If they can prove that their new kicker, punter, and long snapper are actually good, this team might be able to crack 10 wins.
Let it be known that even if we had Ohio State’s roster from last year I would still predict 5 wins.

I'll admit I'm emotionally looking at the tree line as you mention. Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me 10+ years in a row. That's what I'm saying.

From a rational standpoint coaching, talent, development, and working your ass off matters. But to be fair you have to admit there seems to be an underlying psyche with this program that until we bust through, there will be doubters. Myself included...and maybe the players?

It's the players time now to take it upon themselves.

Agree. How many times have any of us as professionals had to adapt, admit mistakes and become better versions of ourselves.

It's those that can learn from mistakes and make changes that I'd want to be around. It's not too far fetched to think that part of his strategy in the 1st year or two was stability/trust. Then would replace coaches/players as necessary to continue to improve. It could also be argued that he thought he'd have a bit more time, but started to find out last year that he may need to do whatever needed to move up the timelines. And I was VERY pleased to see him have that urgency by bringing in Holgorsen mid-season.

The big changes were of course Ekeler and Holgorsen. The wild card is Butler, but Phil Snow should be helpful in that regard. It's as if Rhule has most of his basis covered when it comes to coaching. One could argue that he should've been more aggressive bringing a RB and DT. Although I suspect we'll pick up a DT and Punter this summer.

Accurate self evaluation and corrective action, could be the most important skills to have.

I don't think we will. Probably win 8 or 9, with a ceiling of ten.

This is probably the best conference in the country right now. Urban Meyer said a couple days ago trhe B1G had passed up the SEC. 8 wins (a winning conference record) is almost a sure top 25 rating. Conference is likely to have 7 top 25 teams. Had close to 30% of the NFL draft choices a few weeks ago. Almost every team has been spending money. A lot of the top coaching staffs in the country are in the B1G.

There aren't any gimmes in the B1G, at least no games you can label that way now. You might be able to do it with hindsight at the end of the season. It is too easy to flip rosters now to pick gimmes based on past performance and roster losses.

An 8-win season is actually a much bigger deal than it used to be. It might be like being an 11 game winner in the NFL

I agree 6 would be a major disappointment. But not big enough to get Rhule fired.
Hard to believe it’s the best conference when your only competitive teams are OSU, Pedo State (sometimes), Oregon and then maybe one other at times, ie. MeatChicken
