Nebraska media is drinking that Koolaid

6 wins or less, time for Rhule to go. We've given him everything he could have wanted and if he can't get better than 6 regular season win in year 3, it's time to go, with 2.5 gimmie games, that's 3-6 against peer schools, time to find a new coach.
He is not getting fired for 6 wins. His buyout at the end of 2025 is $55M.

We've got a pretty easy conference schedule this year. Helluva lot easier than Wisconsin, I'm sure #2ndChoice thinks the B1G hates him.
It's about time the Alvarez influence must finally be over. Them and Cockeye have had some of the easiest schedules since we have been in the Big Ten.

Not so much Alvarez, but the way Delaney set up the two division league. He sold the networks marketable cross division games, than means Nebraska against tOSU, Michigan or Penn State, that's what the networks needed to fork over the big contract. Cockeye and Wisconsin don't drive tv numbers like Nebraska does. Our fan support literally made our schedule harder during the two division era.

But without divisions and couple more marquee teams, the schedules are much more even now and they aren't creating the big cross divisional games for ratings. The current schedule system is about as even as it can be for all teams.

At least for me right now:

7 wins. Not happy, and some changes need to happen, but need to look at the circumstances, injuries etc?

8 wins, alright still on track, just a really slow one.

9 wins +, happy, things are looking good.
I wouldn't disagree. You have to understand that part of my post was the lingering emotions of past seasons and their overall failures.

It's the hype train that I tire of until this program can prove itself to be a consistent winner.

Sometimes I'm not sure. From the outside looking in anyway I'd like to see a little more sense of urgency about things.
How do you define sense of urgency? Is it because he's out in public attending events during the off-season?

Bringing in a OC consultant (that eventually becomes your coordinator) mid-season is about as urgent as you're going to get. Along with Ekeler and other coaches hired being at least as good on paper as previous coaches. Not to mention Special Ed was a buddy of his.

Fuuuck. The future will look so bleak if we only win 6 games this year.
I don't think we will. Probably win 8 or 9, with a ceiling of ten.

This is probably the best conference in the country right now. Urban Meyer said a couple days ago trhe B1G had passed up the SEC. 8 wins (a winning conference record) is almost a sure top 25 rating. Conference is likely to have 7 top 25 teams. Had close to 30% of the NFL draft choices a few weeks ago. Almost every team has been spending money. A lot of the top coaching staffs in the country are in the B1G.

There aren't any gimmes in the B1G, at least no games you can label that way now. You might be able to do it with hindsight at the end of the season. It is too easy to flip rosters now to pick gimmes based on past performance and roster losses.

An 8-win season is actually a much bigger deal than it used to be. It might be like being an 11 game winner in the NFL

I agree 6 would be a major disappointment. But not big enough to get Rhule fired.

I agree with this. Trying to appear urgent with the fans might actually be a failing approach as far as the team goes. The team needs to be on an even keel through the season.

I look at those hires as fixes that needed to be made by not hiring the right people to begin with. I'm happy he made the switch and didn't dig his heels in but those issues were ones that he created himself. I'm not a slap you on the back, good job guy for fixing a problem that you created.

Im thinking more along the line with the roster for instance. They made some good moves in the portal to help fill some holes on the offense and defense. I would have liked to have seen him be more aggressive and gone after another OT, DT and RB for example.

I don’t think we will either but I wouldn’t put anything past Nebraska football. The gap has definitely closed but imo the SEC is still slightly better top to bottom. I agree 6 probably doesn’t get him fired, but he’d probably be on the hottest of hot seats, I wouldn’t be surprised if Dylan left, and there would be absolutely no excitement around Husker football..
